No but I'd pay $1.03 instead of 99 cents, and that's all it would go up max. After all, it's the greedy farmers that pocket the massive profits from hiring illegals. If they weren't so greedy, nobody would pay any more for food harvested by legal law abiding citizens who need this work to survive.

If we lose all our illegal immigrants, farmers would start using H2A visa to get laborers. They already start doing so last year. The illegal immigrants make over $10 an hour. Legal immigrants with all the benefits might cost us $14 an hour. Part of the reason we started using legal immigrants was that illegal immigrants were demanding higher pay and it was making it more cost effective to use legal immigrants. SO as to the cost of food going up would be minimal, especially since it was going to go up anyways. As to lettuce prices, it won't change. They were overpriced after the flood a while back. Other fruits and vegetables would see a slight increase. |

Labor is a small percentage of the total cost of getting produce to market. The increase would be negligible.
Besides, farmers receive the same market price for their produce no matter WHO picks it. Meaning they pocket whatever profit they make by hiring illegal criminal aliens. |

Labor is the smallest contributor to the price of fresh produce....shipping is the largest. Studies have shown that the cost increase for produce by paying a Legal immigrant or American a livable wage would only increase by $10.00 a YEAR PER HOUSEHOLD...I would gladly pay an extra $10.00 a year to be free of illegal aliens. |

Just because the large farm owners are like the plantation owners of the 1800's and want to protect their profit margin by utilizing the indentured servants brought here by the organizations like la raza doesn't mean we would see an increased cost. |

This question is really dumb, but I will tell you this, when you live in a community where good jobs are taken by Illegals (Yes it happens) you get fed up with illegals. I am not speaking of migrant work. I see this all the time and LEGALS are suffering. Also, are welfare system is more inclined to help illegals rather than the citizens, so that is just stealing tax payers dollars. If you want to be here just get legal and pay taxes like everyone else. |
