I don't really think educated people should only be on that list as long as they are very hardworking and don't need welfare. Because to the sister down there ( Tiffany) you have plenty of hard working citizens here that are undereducated but are very hard workers.

Yep...how about those willing to learn English and are educated. Being willing to embrace our culture would be nice, too. Oh...before you liberals crucify me, I'm first generation American.

As a matter of fact, many other countries have very strict requirements.

The U.S. should favor immigrants who are:
1.Legal
2 highly educated
3 not criminals
4willing to assimilate
5 honest and hard working

Should the government favor only the rich or only the poor?
This country is made out of immigrants..Do you know where your ancestors came from? Only a few are not immigrants but everyone came to this country being an immigrant and look at what it has became a diverse country filled with different types of culture and opinions and religions and its wonderful. NO I don't think United States government should favor certain immigrants but they do, when they need someone that will work for less they get who wants it, it doesn't matter what race or where you come from. They favor who will work hard for cheap labor.

1) Have not broken any serious laws-ie, murders, robbery, thefts
2) Have some education and be willing to learn English
3) Are not ill with anything serious-no major mental health issues or HIV, ect...
4) Be willing to work and pay taxes
5) IF they are in danger of being murdered in their native country due to voting issues (voting against those in power) or ethnic or religious issues

If they fit the above then let them sign up for papers and let them in!

Yes, I think they should. They should allow a calculated percentage from all the other countries and they should be categorized as to the needs of the US for immigrants by occupation, skill and education level, amount of money they have, etc. We should ensure that immigrants are not ONLY the poor. A certain number of poor, unskilled may be allowed, but these things need to be calculated and the levels decided upon should be adhered to strictly. All illegal immigrants should be deported, no exceptions!

well, if they're already well-off, educated and doing great in their country, why on earth would they want to immigrate to a place where they're not welcome?
