Pancha, it's pure paranoia. Truthfully, I think Yars knows more about these latino groups than I do, and like you, I have learned more about them here. I deal with Mexican immigrant help on visas via the U. L. Labor Department. It seems to me these groups are populated more by legal Mexican Americans, don't you? As a kid, I may have heard Lulac and LaRaza in passing while I was in college; I was too much of a nerd; guess they weren't recruiting non-militant types. I was too busy getting academically grounded. I do not relate to these groups at all, anymore than Yars and Dars do to the KKK.

I tend to agree with your take on this one.

I have lived in Arizona for 23 years and I have see the first hand bigotry that goes on. and guess what it ain't the whites that are bigots it's the Mexicans They will tell you it's their country and we should get out. I have actually had people live close by me that were Mexican American. Great people great kids, and their loyalty still is with the illegals. People need to get a clue. To become an American means to respect the laws of this land/nation. Coming here and remaining here illegally is not respecting our laws. Going through immigration is doing it legally.

I don't agree with the analogy of a "take over" or "invasion", but it is illegal to be here without going through Immigration Services (INS). If they do it that way, I don't care if you're purple, plaid, orange, or green. You're a person that respects this land enough to follow the laws it has in place. That means much more to me than the color of anyone's skin.

The biggest mistake these illegals could ever have made was when on their demonstrations they carried not the American flag but the flag of Mexico! That fact combined with their sheer number of approximately 20 million does give reason to the entire American nation to mistrust them, no matter what their real intentions may be! Holding up the Mexican flag on American soil in a demonstration like that was an unforgivable mistake!
Even if it is only a dream, does that showing of the Mexican flag not give reason to think, that these people may be dreaming of someday raising this same Mexican flag over the White House?
If they really want to become Americans they would have gained much sympathy among Americans, if they would have shown the American flag and not the flag of Mexico or any other foreign country!
The Mexican flag should be raised and carried in Mexico and not in the USA!

I am not comfortable with that. Mexico, Latin and South America are a mess. These are not model societies. Yes, we bear some of the blame, but really the time has come in this country to find ways to make the world a better place to live in. We cannot expect that America will forever be the place to go for a better life. Why don't Mexicans want to have a better nation..and why don't we want that as well??

And of course when this all goes down in the next 20 years, will the Canadians let some of us immigrate there??

I personally dont think that after shabby border patrol for years, and illegal immigrants working and benefiting our nation for low wages that it is okay for us to start up with the "oh no illegals!!!" campaign. What were we expecting? The ones who claim that "they" are taking over are flat out racist pieces of crap. Let them come over here. No, I do not agree with you at all. I do not believe the illegal immigrants really do want to gain American citizenship. If that were the case, coming here illegally sure is NOT the right way for them to be going, now is it? If they really want to gain American citizenship, they would apply through the proper procedures. No, they just want to work and make money and then go back home when they are ready to retire. It is only American pro-illegal immigrant people who think the illegal immigrants really want citizenship. Maybe a very small number of them would like it, but I believe the majority of them could care less if they get American citizenship, or not.

People are afraid of many things, most notably their preferred way of life. Here in my section of the world, Texas, we have many, many Hispanics and getting many, many more. There are times it seems, especially in my area, that the tides are turning, and many jobs are going to bilinguals. Now, I am not in the group of folks wanting to boot out the illegals, but we do need to get a handle on what is going on...many people do not see what our government does for these people.

im half "native american and half scott" one side of my family, which is the indian side, was told that not very many people from the lands accross the sea would be coming. and that they would be free to hunt and multiply and have no worries. they would be able to do as they wish. after all they were here before the new settlers. but then more and more came and wars were started and killings took place all for a peice of land. a childs and mothers life was taken so that the white man can destroy the land and kill off the animals that were sacred to these people .and still they were told that there would be no more people coming here. a take over might be a strong word to you but to the elders of my tribe, these were what came to pass. the american culture is one of bloodshed and lies. the settlers did it. why wouldnt the illegals?

You say..The illegals don't know what the hell aztlan is. the aztlan is a group that has come here illegaly to reclaim what they feel is theirs, namely California. How is that becoming American. they are criminals, hence the phrase "illegals" which you acknowledge in your question. For the most part they do not learn english, even after having been here for many years, how is that becoming american. in the past legal immigrants did every thing they could to learn the language and to become part of american society. look at history, were the schools required to teach in other lanquages, were DMV booklets printed in other lanquages,ballots also. no. because the people learned english, studied and became citizens.
I don't know what you are talking about with the KKK, I don't think you do either, they don't hardly exist anymore, where are they active? haven't heard of them any where in this situation.

I live in L.A. and and you try and talk to a "mexican" on the street or behind the counter in a store and they don't know what you are saying. look at the ads for jobs and more and more are saying --bilinqual preferred,--spanish speaking a plus. is that because the "illegals"--to quote you-- are becoming americans or because the americans are being forced to become like them.

It is fear and many use it as a cover to bash illegals....I am a first generation hispanic and I love this country, I feel blessed to be here and my loyalities are to this country....That having been said, I also have sympathy for those less fortunate then myself,such as illegals, i know what they endure on a daily basis....I am no better than anyone else, be it an illegal or legal....So, yes, I support amnesty for these people, sorry..
