OK would you prefer the term non citizen rather than illegal?

Illegals violated the law. It's illegal. Someone who came here legally is a non citizen until they become one.

there is a BIG difference between being a Non ctizen and being an Illegal immigrant. Non Citizens are here LEGALLY. they took the time and expense to play by the rules. They are paying taxes and biding their time until they caan apply for citezenship.

It's not so much the word "illegal", it's the way people are throwing it around- "ILLEGALS!!! are in our schools!!!" That much emotion just seems to get in the way of rational thought, as far as I'm concerned.

I think the latter is a bit more descriptive and on target than the first (when speaking of a person sneaking into a country, that is). When I hear the term "non citizen," I don't think of someone who is in another country illegally. Instead, I just think of a person who may be visiting the country. "Illegal" implies that a law and/or laws have been broken; therefore, a person sneaking into a country should be labeled as an illegal alien and/or trespasser.

No, I am tired of people trying to be politically correct and all concerned about hurting the feelings of criminals. Legal immigrants in the U.S. on visas and green cards are also noncitizens, but they aren't breaking the law by being here like these illegal invaders are.

i am going to call them ILLEGALS. i am going to call them as they are. they are criminals, just like any other crime. some things i dont' think should be a crime, but guess what, that's too bad. laws are laws and they are ment to be followed by everybody, not just the ones that believe in them.

No. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Making a new name for them is demeaning in itself. What I mean is.. I'm asian. Well, I used to be oriental. But then they changed it, because oriental was demeaning. WTF? When was "oriental" demeaning? I was fine with it, but now I have to use the word "asian" and in doing so I am reminded of the "insult." And WTF, asian means half the population of the world. Oriental was a much more specific and meaningful term. But now we can't even use the word anymore? F that. I'm not asian. I'm oriental.

Illegal has come to mean what it means. It doesn't need to be changed.
