OK ICE AGENT THE WORLD IS NOT 3/4 WATER. 3/4 OF THE EARTH IS COVERED BY WATER GENIUS. YOUR WHOLE ARGUMENT IS INTERESTING BUT NOT TO SMART. |

Displacement, displacement, displacement. Just tried that with a Rum and Coke. Took one Ice cube out and walla. Room for more Rum. |

Interesting point. Ignore the answers, the main point is that you have an inquiring mind and that's all that matters.
For the record, I agree with your hypothesis. |

Interesting question. I think it is the earth's surface that is 3/4 water. But you are right - if you take all the animals out of the water then the water level would go down and the equation would change. I wonder by how much... |
|

Unbound Demon

that does make sense but there is more then just animals causing the water levels rise there is also things humans throw into the water. destroyed, cars, boats, ships, planes etc. also icebergs raise the level as well just as ice did in your glass of water |
|

?
|
i totally get your point and i agree. yes the water level would decrease becuase your removing weight that has pushed. its jsut like in a bathtub when you get out the water level decresases. |

Meena

very true. you have a very interesting point. but what is the question? is it how much it would decresase? if it is i have no idea, do you? why did you put this question in immigration? |

Yeah, but animals and fish are made up of 75% water or more... including us. So, 3/4's of what you are taking out of the ocean is water. |

Not really all that perplexing- mass and volume go hand in hand. It all depends really.
The MASS you remove from the ocean is the result of how much MASS that is left over.
You have 1/2 cup of oil and 1/2 cup of water. Remove the oil, you still have 1/2 cup of water.
MASS / VOLUME = DENSITY (basic math, right?)
I guess that's kinda cool that a CD just made you think about something you found interesting though...
...Thanks for sharing it with us. |

One does not affect the other. You say the world is 3/4 water. If I put rocks into the ocean until the ocean levels rise does this mean the earth is more than 3/4? no.
Put in or take out. The % of water remains the same. |

Makes sense to me. The way things are going with animals dying, we might soon find out. |

No YOU need to go back to school. If you put three ice cubes in a glass of water, the amount of water does not change, the level just goes up. They do not base the 3/4 water on flat space, if that was the case, it would only take about four or five shallow, wide-rimmed glasses to be 3/4 of you. |

you make a very good point. i would think the same way. if we took all the animals out then water level would go down. try telling people to sit in a tub of water and see what happens with the water. we need those animals in our waters. they feed off each other, circle of life. and humans live off those animals. but, you did make a good point. |

You have to remember that the oceans are huge. Yes, if you put 3 ice cubes in a glass of water it would rise, but what if you put 3 ice cubes in a pool. would it really make a difference? |

You have a good point.
You should recherche that more try to find some one who studies the sea levels and get back to us with the results. |

If you took every animal out of the sea, yes, the water displacement would cause the sea levels to drop. However, you would also be removing a major source of food for much of the world. |
