The US doesn't actually have a national language, that's one of the problems. Immigrants have to take the citizenship test in English, but that's as far as it goes. And it's one thing for the government to print voting pamphlets in Spanish, Vietnamese, or Klingon, but prohibiting people from using other languages during the course of commerce (like Spanish language TV stations) would be an infringement of their freedom of speech. |

A second language is now a requirement for college I would suggest you learn one. |

National languages in the USA will be in a very few years both English and Spanish.
Americans should not be worried about this. USA was created by European inmigrants(British,German,Dutch,...etc.....
Spanish speaking people are coming to America to do all that jobs which consist in the basis of American economy.
Americans should be glad to have so many millions of inmigrants doing the hard work.
Evidently, these people are usually not very well educated, therefore they need explanations in their own language (Free Market is what is imposing this and Free market is what have made America the big country it is).
Let us be positive and constructive about this phenomenon |

instructions come in many diffrent languages because of all the immagrants and people so we dont want anyone to feel left out i guess. just like the metric system is our official messurment system (its true!) , you choose whether english is the official language of the US. |

Today, there is no national language.
When the Fore Fathers came together to vote on the subject, they almost enacted German as the official language. But it failed by just a few votes. |

Where do you live? I'm in Yuma AZ and the same is true. Can't go thru a drive thru without a translater just about.
My oldest will be in his 2nd or 3rd year of spanish this year. If you're still in school I highly suggest it as many employers will hire a bilingual person over a person speaking only english. |

You would not be speaking "Mexican", you'd be speaking spanish. And while officially, we do not have a national language, English is the most commonly used, with spanish at 2nd and chinese at 3rd. |

It is still English, but for some reason instead of making the immigrants learn English, we have decided to have everything in Spanish. |

The official language should be English!!! If we are going to have immigrants come to this country then they should adapt to the language and laws of this country..not expect for the country to adapt to them. As for why instructions come in different languages...because a lot of those item are not only sold in the US you idiot! |

Well.... yes, it is still English but probably not for long. The Mexican Government is attempting to quickly change that and wants English to be a secondary language. The American Government and the naive, stupid American people are still asleep and do not realize what is happening.. when they do wake up, it will be too late.. TARDE demasiado.... |

English is our NATIONAL language, not our OFFICIAL language.
We need to push legislation through making English the OFFICIAL LANGUAGE....that way all transactions, laws, legal documents MUST be done in English.
There is a difference....we must demand our right to our language now... |

Yes our official language is english. We are a country based on diversity and as a courtesy to our immigrants we have signs in spanish as well.We have spanish channels targeting the latino population and too bad you don't understand the language since you are missing out on some very good shows! You cant fight it so you may as well try to learn spanish.. you could use the signs to help you learn! |
