i'm trying to start the process of petitioning my parents from the philippines , i noticed some minor errors on their marriage certificate and my birth certificate- like my mom's birth year was 55 instead of 54, my dad's name on my birth cert . is rey instead of reynaldo, my question is do i just need an affidavit of correction or do we have to wait for the NSO (national statistics office ) in the philippines to correct it?(takes two months) --the US embassy in the philippines requires NSO certified papers during the applicant's interview... can you guys help... thanks..

US Embassy only accepts NSO authenticated birth certificate. While you are just starting the petition you might as well have your parents' discrepancies in their birth certificate be amended at the NSO.If they don't have it during the interview they might be put under Administrative Review until they can provide the birth certificate from NSO. |

I agree with Misis - get the corrected NSO certified copy, if you are only still gathering papers and filling out the forms. The 2 months won't set you back very much. |
