Put immigration to a public vote?

Don't really need to. The laws are there already. What has to be done is vote out the people that refuse to enforce them. But the vast majority will simply vote for the incumbent. And the problem will continue. It is the fault of the American voter. Might I add, the lazy American voter who is to lazy to look at the issues, but instead bases his or her opinion on 30 second political ads.

1. It's not a quick, cheap, easy subject.
2. We've already voted and the decision has been made - illegal immigration is illegal. There are already established guidelines for getting into the country legally. We simply need to enforce (with force) the existing laws. It's the PC Left hoping for votes and more government power that is keeping this issue floating.

I believe if we took a public vote it wouldn't mean a thing,the politicians would find a way around the majority decision if they weren't happy with the results. Call me cynical!

I'm for it. I would like to see a number of issues put up for public vote. The Lobbyists would never go for it though. They would loose out on all that money from corporations and other groups.

Good question!! That would be fair. Rich politicians in their mansions and their rich lifestyles will never know the effects of the damage being done by illegal immigrants and careless government officials. It's always the middle class who suffers. We should absolutely leave it to a vote.

I don't know if it's much of an answer to your question, but this evening, as I was watching a documentary on TV about where we are today after 911, somebody mentioned a question that asked to them:
Is the Statue of Liberty still facing towards the sea? Because w/ all the control of the boarders, one has to wonder if maybe she's turned to face the other direction (inland).

Illegal immigration is toooootally wrong, but sadly it is still very popular because there's a market for illegal immigrants (those dirt-pay jobs many US citizens don't want to do are perfect opportunities for those seeking any kind of money)

If there's a market for illegal aliens, Â¿whose fault is it?.. you see, illegal immigration would slow down or disappear if people didn't hire illegal aliens to do their dirty work... but those dirt-pay jobs no one wants to take are important on a small scale, so if only a few illegals are willing to take those jobs for a small amount of money then so be it (its business, not financial aid)

Sooo, the solution is either raising the pay on those jobs and offering them only to legal american citizens, or hitching your shirtsleeves and doing those jobs in spite of the pay (not giving them to the illegal immigrants)

btw: US history is brimming with immigration (legal and illegal) since its foundation... so, get used to it! the issues may recede, but they will not go away... cooperate in your own way by culture, not violence.
