Gringo? I've been called that by illegals in the USA. I used to work construction and heard the term almost daily. A lot of Mexicans are pissed off because their government sold land to us, reneged on the deal, lost in a war and feel that they still own the land. This is the agenda of the Reconquistadors and La Raza. They feel that anyone living in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California is on their land and they, therefore hate them. Now who is the racist, the white man that would like the laws of his country enforced, or the mexican that hates the white man? |

My husband is white and he lived in Mexico with his ex fiance for almost 2 years, and yes they are very racist towards white people. Even his ex was racist from time to time. He finally got smart and got his a** out of there when his ex kept trying to get him to marry him, and reminding him it wasn't to become an American or anything. And yes, that is what she told him lol, when he hadn't even brought the issue of the possibility of her just wanting to become an American through marriage. ;) |

I suppose you would have to ask every single Mexican to find out how they feel about Americans(black or white) and then do the math. I doubt that those "statistics" from your boyfriend are true! My husband is from Mexico and he has no problem with any race. Neither do his family nor our friends. This question/comment that you are asking about is simply a matter of opinion not fact!!!

The US doesn't have a corner on ignorance. I once heard an illegal friend of mine ask why they ought to celebrate our Independence Day. It was an innocent enough question and I gave her the obvious answers. She wasn't being hateful, she was being ignorant.
I don't really think "they" hate us because we took "their" land. Racism is born from fear and lack of education. |

Not true. My boyfriend is Black and my family loves him. Everyone is capable of being racist, even Blacks, Mexicans and Asians. But the biggest racists by far are Whites here on Yahoo. |

I don't know about two-thirds, and I only know of 2 such words, but it doesn't sound completely off. There is racism in Mexico as in any other country, but, asside from some very zealous official programs to celebrate native cultures, little has been done to address the historical patterns of racism that shaped that country (one reason that it's tiny white minority wields so much wealth and power).
It's one of the things that adds to the waves of emmigration from Mexico. Going north doesn't just get you better job prospects, for a mestizo, it also gets you better protection from racism. |
