I just got my greencard but may need to be out of the country frequently during the first couple of years, so I think I need to apply for a re-entry permit. On the application form I-131 there is a field that asks for the purpose of the trips, I'm not sure what to put there. For people who have successfully obtained the reentry permit, what are the justifications you have used? Thanks in advance.

Reentry permit is only needed if you will be absent for more than one year at a time.
However if you have many and length absences you will find the time does not apply to your residency for citizenship and CIS may begin to question whether you are in fact a resident of the US. So they will want to know why you are traveling out of country so much, Just explain it, business trips? take care of sick relatives? etc/ |
