Romanian & Bulgarian beggars on the streets of the UK?

omg I coudn't aggree with you more, my friend saw a "beggar" changing into some rags on the train! That's what irritates me, also I saw on TV that beggars get the average of 100pounds a day, it's ridiculous, we work to pay the immigrants who can't be bothered to work. I'm half polish and I have some relatives in England who have come from Poland, they have like 2 jobs each and work so hard. Also I can't stand beggars who use their children for sympathy, I aggree, they could at least get a job, I see some homeless people selling that big issue magazine for money, they try and then the rest beg. x

You should report them to the polioce. Seriously. It is a criminal offence to beg, under the Vagrancy Act. These people can be deported as they need to have registered to WORK here under the EU rules on newly joined countries.

I am a british Citizen, i work and live in Poland, now the EU has opened it's boarders everyone will get these gypsies, this however is ok not a lot can afford to come here, Romanians have to cross Poland to arrive here and they would normally get turned backfrom entering Poland. Bulgarians the same....wait until we have albanians real **** people then we will have a problem

The culture of some tribes of Romanian and Bulgarian Gypsies is to beg.
You should be grateful that they are not from that Spanish tribe of Gypsies who frequent the area near the Picasso museum in Barcelona. Their tradition and profession is to be pickpockets. And they are good at it!

send them back the tax payers of this country are sick of these people who come over get houses,cars,money medical care etc and have never put into the system its not fair,i work hard for what i have a its makes me sick when i see people drive better cars than me and they don't have to work,i don't care if they are white,black,blue,red,green,just pay your way and shut up or don't bother coming.

The reason why you get non english beggers in the uk is because they came over here seeking refuge and for one reason or another were refused. Now here's where the government messed up. Remember all this being in the news ahile back? All these people are supposed to be deported back to their own countries, however, alot of aren't and fall into the cracks as it were. These people are poor, homeless, have no money, no nin, cant get a job, cant get back home. So they beg. Now, some of these people are genuine, but yes, you do get those who are 'fake' homeless who beg not because tey have no choice but because they know people will feel sorry for them and give them money. Sad but true. Which is where the big issue came in. They give these real homeless people a chance to earn a little bit of money for clothes, food.

its the same in the town i live in theres a family of them and they move around to different spots in town, one of them followed my girlfriend around town hassling her one day while i was at work hes lucky i didnt find him when she told me!!!

I believe most beggers do it as a job. My 'friend' used to do it. He couldnt be bothered getting a job and knew you make loads of money begging so did it (in Edinburgh too). He made a fortune.
I went to Canada once where the people begging had better trainers on than me!! Needless to say that day I didnt have any change on me ;)
I think if they are caught begging they should be sent back home.

While the Romanian & Bulgarian Begger you see might carry a Romanian or Bulgarian passport. The chances are they belong to the ROMA or "Gypsy" peoples.

It is a full time business for them, here as well (I live in Transylvania, Romania) one cannot go shopping in town, to the shops, train stations, etc without them hasseling people for money.

They are one of the most anti-social groups in Europe, who believe its their right to beg and steal because they are "The ROMA People ."

They are disliked intensely by the Romanians, Hungarians, Bulgarians etc..etc..

They claim they are a ethnic minority, (over 4 million live in Romania) true in the sense as they refuse to asimilate with others ethnic groups, dont allow inter-marrige, yet expect all the benifits available to people who are socialy intigrated in the world.

They should be removed from the streets and shipped back to the country of origin, they have no job skills to offer other E.U. countries, they are not fleeing MASS persecution unless you call court apperences for crime that.

Their (the ROMA) current way of life reflects Their refusale to asimilate into and follow the normal social life of other peole living in what ever country they have been established in.

With regards: italy_genova, they do not need to go to Poland to get to London, you get on a bus "Eurolines" in Deva Transylvania, with a ticket to London, travel via Hungary, Austria, France, Belgium (Chunnel) England. Others fly direct from Bucharest Romania to London.

Living in London, you cannot help but notice the amount of Romanys on the streets. I work in criminal defence and have been coming across these people a lot. You would not believe the amount of resentment there presence and way of life is generating! I don't consider myself to be a racist, but I have to agree with you. Their presence here is not adding to anything except unrest. They should be sent back

I don't blame you for being upset. I am an American who lives part-time in Budapest. The other day we saw three healthy looking gypsy types walking down a side street and each one was carrying a crutch which was way too small for them to have to really use to get around.They most likely just finished their begging shift!

I totally agree with what you are saying. If they can not work here for some reason, they should not be here. If they have had entry clearance, they can work, if they can not find work, they should not be begging on the streets. We already have enough beggars in this country. I am in no way against immigration, asylum or economic migration, as part of the 1952 Convention, we have a duty to protect a percentage of the world's refugees under The Human Rights Act. However, economic migrants who can't get work do not come under this category. I'm against begging full stop!! I don't care what country these people are from.
Refugees for that matter, like you said, they are a different kettle of fish as they have fled persecution.

There are lots of Romanian beggars in Belfast. A family of them are living in a rented house in my street. I know that the rent of that particular house is Â£800 PCM.
Why would they work when they can live off benefits and supplement their incomes by begging?
Well, they don't actually beg, as that is illegal, they offer a tatty copy of The Big Issue.

We shouldn't confuse refugees with east European beggars. The refugees get a rotten deal from our government. Many of them have escaped from conditions in their own homelands that we couldn't imagine in our worst nightmares.

The Romanians, or Roma, seem to little more than a criminal underclass. They are responsible for most ATM frauds, do a bit of shop-lifting, and the selling of The BIg Issue.

Simple solution If nobody gave anything to beggars they would soon give up.It is our fault for being so soft hearted. If you feel like being charitable donate to a recognised charity for children or something.

A few years ago I used to regularly give money to a lass who begged for money etc in Abergavenny, South Wales. She always had a dog with her and I felt sorry because I hate to see animals suffer! One day I took time out and actually spent an hour or so in conversation with her! It transpired that she owned her own home and she admitted that she could make more money from begging that from having a regular job. Needless to say I didn't give her another penny.

In London a lot of the women take children and babies begging and, apparently, its not unusual for then to drug their babies while they work the tube. I have nothing against people of other races or cultures and certainly nothing against the homeless - however I am more likely to give money to someone doing something to earn it - i.e. busking. Nothing brightens a dull wet monday morning in London than someone smiling and singing!

I am BULGARIAN citizen my husband ENGLISH so you know i have nothing against you but please do not call those Bulgarians they are gypsies that are allowed to have our passports BULGARIANS HATE THEM because people like you assume they are Bulgarians and talk so general about us....For your info there are very little people that aren't educated enough to do jobs 8-20 because it is in our education and culture that you have to have degree or a college to get a job back home it is our culture that we have to study and reach a goal in life...My husband is English and reading your mail pissed him off because he know about us he also knows about gypsies but i also know if he didn't have the knowledge of our culture and people he probably will assume like you...IT IS VERY UPSETTING .....I also want those gypsies out of UK but unfortunately because they are part of EU you actually can not tell them to leave this is the law...THEY also do not need Visa or work permit in UK they only need a certificate to work and only if they are employed in a proper company...Good luck getting them out but would appreciate next time you dont call Bulgarian people gypsies it is like calling English Chinese ...............

I got to know bulgarian people recently through the internet they have their own companies and I find them very hard working polite and work for very little money they give you your moneys worth and do a excellent job.
