You did a great job at summarizing my feelings too! I definitely agree with you. Remember, United We Stand, Divided We Fall. And I thought the time spent in history class with wasted. I am beginning to see some similarities here. I still don't understand how any red-blooded American can sit idly by and allow this to happen. I have become very vocal with my congressmen, senators, representatives, etc. And you know, they actually act like them are glad to hear from me. The more people they have telling them how they feel about the situation, the stronger our (We the People) voice will be.

P.S. I would only go to Mexico and do those things you mentioned if I had a death wish!!

first of all I disagree. second, people arent demanding these things, the government is offering them. The reason is that it is hard to communicate if you dont speak someone's language.

What's good for the goose is good for the gander, if they are allowed to keep their family intact so should everyone else in the world who legally immigrates here. I'd rather give mass amnesty to people in the middle east since they are suffering MUCH more than the 'american'(continental) illegals

I'm not saying I completely agree with it, but I know some now citizens and some who aren't citizens who came here illegally, so it's hard for me to have an opnion on the topic. However, the life there isn't very good at all...remember what the statue of liberty says? Give me your poor and hungry, we should consider it a bit of a priveldge that so many people want to live in America, being born here with the freedoms that we so often neglect is a priveldge. Also, consider that it is true that they do help our economy. Would you work under the conditions that they do for the wage that they do? They risk their lives to come here, some to leave their families and send money back home to support their families or help afford medicine for sick family members. We need them just as much as they need America.

It's true that no other country would do that, but we're not any other country. If you think that we should be more like other counties maybe you should look at some of those countries and see the way that they live and the freedoms that we have they can only dream about!

Wow. Did the KKK just take a field trip to this question? Listen, we're talking about our human brothers and sisters here, and assuming you are all working stiffs like me, you have more in common with people who are here without papers than with so-called American corporate owners. Realize this, big business has been going global for decades, and they care not a jot for national boundaries as long as they can make a profit. They have a fervent interest in having a large pool of cheap labor just south of the border. The inequalities between Mexican and American workers has everything to do with the capitalist system, and nothing to do with the racist claptrap I saw on some of the answers here.

Oh, and while I'm about it, who 'owned' Texas and California before the U.S. Army marched in? If you're of European extraction your ancestors were immigrants and they settled a stolen land reeking of genocide.

National borders will one day not exist (here's to sooner rather than later), and people should be able to live where ever they choose.

I totally agree, man, why shoud we have to put up with all of these immigrants, and conform to them, when it is our country, and it should be free only to those who are legal citizens. The government is too cowardly to push out these people.... that is SO sad.......

Sure we could send all the immigrants home. Then we can go and pick the produce WE NEED for two dollars an hour. Oh but I forgot, you would probably want health-care benefits and AT LEAST minimum wage.
So what if Mexico does not offer anything to immigrants? Are we Mexico? I would say we are much better and therefore know better. Wouldn't you agree.

While our country is based, and primarily comprised, of immigrants, the difference is that those early settlers came here through Ellis Island. And ya know what else?? They did it the right way! I, by no means, believe that immigration to America should cease; however, all the ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION has to stop before it is beyond repair. The illegal immigrants are killing our economy. They are not required to put anything back into the economy, and furthermore, send the majority of their illegal earnings back to their home countries to provide for the families still there. I wrote a paper on Illegal Immigration when in Junior College. I was disgusted by my findings. Back in 1997-1998, the California school system spent almost 2 billion, yep I said Billion with a capital "B" to educate illegal immigrants. In Fort Payne, AL, which used to be known as the 'Sock Capital of the World' is now losing all its businesses because the Money Greedy B-stards are moving the manufacturing plants to Mexico and other cheap labor countries. Not to mention, that at least 45% of those still in Fort Payne have predominantly Illegal Hispanic employees.
These illegal immigrants do not pay any taxes, they are provided FREE medical care via Medicare and Medicaid, they are not required to carry auto insurance, and thus when they kill someone from their daily DUIs, are they prosecuted and held responsible? That is a resounding, NO!!! Most of the time, they lie to officers and give false information, you can forget tracking them down later. My question is why our government allows them to purchase homes, cellular phones, automobiles, and etc. when they have no SSN or other identification. I mean, do you really think if you went to a Real Estate company with no form of Identification you would be given the deed to a house???!! If you were, then shame on that company all the same. I am sick and tired of it.!! They are allowed to do this because they accumulate so much cash because 16 families live in one dwelling and all pool their cash. No banks are used, therefore, no money is put into our economy or financial system. Illegal immigrants are killing America. Could someone tell me about a foreign country where I can immigrate to Illegally and demand that they accept my Native Language, provide me with interpretors at every business I choose to visit, excuse me for violating their laws-well, I am an illegal immigrant after all, and provide me with Free health care and other welfare programs??? Do I think they have it great in their Native countries? No. Why don't they pool the effort it takes to Creep over here like thieves and steal from this country, and put it to use making their own countries better? That is too reasonable. As long as Bush allows this, it will never end. I just hope that whomever is ellected next cares more for his/her country, and less about hurting the feelings of those who are breaking our laws.

Before anyone would say anything about this question, we should do a little research about our own history.
We are a country made of immigrants, legally and illegally, and the diversity of all of us have made us different from any other nation, we are strong and we can be better if we try to understand our position regarding to this matter and resolve it the best possible way.
