Anyone who was born in the States, has to be a descendant of an immigrant family. The other option of existence in the States from the beginning of time is not likely.
So to answer your question, in a way, indirectly, all of the U.S presidents would be immigrants. Ronald Regan's parents were immigrated from Ireland, Abraham Lincon's ancestors were from Hinghan, England. Richard Nixon's ancestors were from either Ireland or Scotland.
Point is, usually the first generation immigrants don't benefit from the migrations. But the following generations do. And you have an example of it already.
Of course, mine is a indirect approach to your question. The direct answer is no according to the constitution. |

The president can appoint a natualized citizen as one of his cabinet members Etc. However if you change this law you might have someone coming into this country with backing of anyother country. This person will be allowed to climb up the latter to the very top. Take office then it would not be american anymore it would be whatever this persons orginal country.
It might lead to glory or it might lead to the down fall. Keep the law. |

I take it you mean should naturalized citizens be allowed to run for President?
That requires a change to the constitution, which is extremely difficult to do, and is not a priority for any party.
It is probably an outdated restriction - it might be appropriate to amend to say that you must have been a citizen for 10 years or something like that - but in any case, no-one is likely to change that restriction.
Interestingly, you can run as Vice President, but if the President died in office, you could not then assume the responsibilities of President! And of course, naturalized citizens can be house representatives, Senators, State Governors and so on - they can occupy any elected office EXCEPT President. |

I think so, IF they are a citizen here and lived here for 35 years and such..
And he would be subjected to a extremely high background check.. But we shouldn't not allow it because the Declaration of Independence says our rights to the pursuit of happiness..
If a citizen who was an immigrant here wants to be president, let him run.. Plus if he's a bad president, the D of I allows us to impeach and screw his *** out.. |

If you are an American citizen, at least 35 yrs. of age, with some sort of political background (seats held), work your way to it. Make sure you're sincere and honest in your campaign promises--that doesn't guarantee nomination by your political affiliation, but it helps. |
