What, exactly, IS an 'American' accent?
There are Southerners that sound British, some Texans that I can't understand at all, and folks from Canada that sound like New Yorkers.
I love all the different accents I hear with English. It makes a rich language, as English is so flat and dull with just the British, Canadian, or American newscaster-style inflections.
Anyone who can add a little sizzle to this old boring tongue is just fine by me! |

What part of America are you from? Do the people in the South deserve to be kicked out because they talk funny? What about New Englanders? Or those in the MidWest? Or Wisconsin? America was built upon immigration. If someone is an American citizen (check me on this one if I'm wrong), they have the right to free speech. Not sure about your logic. But, I would disagree with your statement. However, it is very frustrating to call a company for help and not understand the person on the other end because they talk fast and have a heavy accent. But, I just think they should find another line of work. Not move, unless they are illegal.
Plus, there go all my wild dreams of Sean Connery or Mel Gibson or Hugh Jackman. No, I am leaning towards accents. |
