Should Council Tax rise to support the increase of immigrant families to the UK?

No it should not, why is the UK the only ones in Europe to be supporting immigrants the way they do? Its about time they got harder with their attitudes like the rest of Europe.

I live in Spain, a very hard system here for people, no housing benefit full stop, and no dole money or wide ranges of benefits, if you want to survive here, you have to work, its that simple! Becaues there are so few benefits here, the council tax equivalent is a fraction of the price! we pay just over the equivalent of Â£100 a year, and have our rubbish collected daily!

This is a big media con.

Immigrants have to show a means of supporting themselves before they are allowed to enter the country. Therefore, no extra money is needed to fund them.

This is the media using a minority group to boost fear and therefore, boost sales. Don't fall for it.

I agree with Dave it is a big con, as for the rest of the people who have answered, you should really take a good look at the imagrants and see /understand thereplight, they don't just think oh lets go to britian you get loads of hand outs they are often in situations they cant help like wars and conflicks and just to leave there home within 5or 10 minutes is often all these people have let alone the gathering togerther of their children then not knowing where or when your next meal is comming from. think of the mental anguish thes people have suffered before you condem them and just thank the Lord you are not in their shoes or sandles.

Well at least they Legal Immigrants. The Council Taxes are going up because people are getting too greedy. Profit over Service. There are too many treats and not enough Quality Control.

not a chance do we invade their countries? NO. I don't have a problem with LEGAL immigrants as long as they work and earn their own way pay insurance and tax e.t.c. But what really p**s me off is out government just hand out money like sweets to illegal immigrant the government should look after their own country first.UK

No. We should only be supporting genuine asylum seekers. anyone else who comes to this country to live should be able to support themselves, with jobs and living accommodation lined up before they come. There would then be less drain on council funds.

For all those who have said immigrants need to prove income, this only applies to certain ones, and mainly the ones we don't mind being here!
Asylum seekers and refugees are not allowed to work and HAVE to live on benefits (and illegal employment). So before you start saying it is a big con, check your facts.

kate breen you need more than a petition to Mr Blair, he doesn't seem to know whats happening in this country hes too busy looking after other countries that really perhaps someone else might have a go and let him come back to no10 and LISTEN to all the complaints that are flowing into his various departments,it seems we are hammering on a brick wall, Mr Blair,the british public are incensed at all the legislation which is spewing out from your party, i have never seen the people of this country so unsettled so for the sake of britain and the people just listen and act and be seen to be acting to right the wrongs which are now suffocating us,make the first thing immigration, never mind about political correctness, get this country back to normal. dont even think about rate rises again, its a very sore issue.

For those who believe the media fear propogandists:

Immigrants to the UK are not allowed access to "Public Funds".
They have to give proof of their own independent income.
If they have a sponsor, then the sponsor must give financial evidence - bank statements, earnings etc,- that they can support the applicant.
They have to have appropriate accommodation already arranged.
They have to have a health check

Take a look at UK Visas website, at the downloadable forms for Visa applications to the UK and you will become more educated.

I'm quite Liberal, I have no children and I pay a furtune to educate all your children, regardless of creed or colour. I don't complain as I can afford it. They will contribute to the good of this country.

It's getting to the point where we will all have to move to another country as there won't be enough room for us any more! I for one am sick of it, we have enough British families in this country that need help, but this government seems to think it ok for us to work to support the rest of the world also, I wonder what would happen if the entire nation refused to pay Council tax etc, they couldn't put us all in prison!!! Perhaps we should start a petition!!!

im sick of all the immigrant illegal or legal.i cant get a fucking council house for them and im english and worked all my life.stick them all on an island,but not this one,its full up.
