Should I bother getting British passport?

Well you're entitled to one, but why bother? Unless you want two passports? You can travel wherever you like on both of them with no restrictions, so no real advantage ...

you can you your Irish passport in the UK for the same things as a British passport so its not really necessary, unless your passport has run out and then why not?

Depends on whether there are any benefits to you over the Irish one. I seriously doubt it, and it's going up to Â£66 soon for a UK passport, so I wouldn't bother if I were you. I don't think anyone has any grudge against the Irish anywhere...

A lot of English people died to give you the right to do so ...........get down that passport office and get one and be forever gratefull to belong - in part -to one of the greatest nations in the world .

If the British one gives you the advantage of not requreing a visa for certain countries, then go for it. But I dont hold either so I wouldn't know.

As you have already given up your Birthright and are now British why hang on to an Irish one?? You are British, and God help you!!
On second thoughts, I am a great believer in the re unification of Ireland, and kicking the Brits out , it wont be long coming, best get an Irish one and dump the British!!

Since they are both European Union passports (i.e.the red passports) it really shouldn't make a difference.

My daughter in duel national and we have been told that due to law changes She will need to choose 1 nationality for her passport when she is 16, that She can not hold both passports.

How much traveling do you plan to do? Where do you think you will use the British one as opposed to the Irish one ?

Here Canada)it costs 87 dollars and it is good for 5 yrs .....not a lot of money but at the same time it's a lot of money. Whatever the cost of a British passport is is it worth it to you?
