Obviously not ... we have perfectly good immigration laws at the moment, which are followed by thousands of people every year ... we even have a guest worker program already, so there really is no need to tinker around with any "comprehensive solution". Those who come here knowingly breaking our laws, and those who are already here, should be deported, in accordance with current laws! Whatever our useless administration has in mind, our existing laws have not changed, at least not yet, and should be enforced!

I was reading in the news today that illegal immigrants are going to sue Wendy's. What has this country become? Are we idiots? Who's going to pay for it? Guess who? Why should they have ANY RIGHTS AT ALL, THEY'RE ILLEGAL!!!!!
Illegal immigrants take OUR jobs, OUR education for free, OUR health care for free, OUR housing and so on and so on. What they give back is breaking the law and then because they're here in America, they all of a sudden have 'rights'. What a joke. They bring TB and AIDS into our country. We have enough problems with our own. Shoot, we can't even take care of our own. What are we thinking? Oh, I could just go on and on and on.

IF someone is at risk of death in their own country for supporting US policies then they should request asylum at the nearest US embassy.

I don't have a problem with someone wanting a better life here. That is great. But you need to come in the front door legally and contribute to society. Don't come in the back door illegally. And drain our resources.

Zambranoray, Yes, boat loads of poor people from all over the world was coming here 100 plus years ago. But even then there were rules that had to be followed before they were allowed into the country.
Just because you were on the boat did not mean you got into the country. If you didn't met the criteria, you got sent home or taken to the hospital wing to either get well or pass away. And can you blame the officials at the time? Did you really wont someone coming into the country whom already had TB or Chicken Pox, or Flu? These are all communicable diseases. The officials didn't want to kill off Our population by illness.
And if your paperwork was not in order, then guess what? You had to go back home. We didn't tolerate illegal immigration then either.
But the people coming here were expected to become a positive contribution to the society as a whole and to be law abiding. They were expected to learn our language and assimilate into to the culture. It was ok to keep their old world culture but they were also supposed to learn our culture as well.

Also think about this. If my ancestors had known how they where going to be treated by most other people's ancestors, do you think they would have welcomed them with open arms?

I am proud to be an American. I am an American of mixed heritage and proud of it. But before I acknowledge any of my heritages, I proclaim my American Citizenship first then my ancestral heritage.

Oh and by the way, all of my ancestors (Native & White) have bled for this country on the battlefield no matter what the conflict. From Revolutionary to the Current Gulf War. Can your family history say the same?

Also other countries do make it hard for an American citizen to come there to live or visit. IF an American tries to cross into Mexico illegally, guess what? The Mexican troops open fire & try to kill the American. Also why does the UK require a American visitor to show evidence of at least 10,000.00 cash/currency on you before the American is allowed into your country just to go on vacation?
