Should americans push for E-Verify?

Sure E-Verify, background investigations, drug and alcohol testing and a credit check as a standard hiring practice on every person applying for work in the United States.
Maybe when a few citizens start to get caught up in the legal paperwork that lines the road for others will a second thought or look be called for.

Of course we should!! If you want to work in the US and you are here legally, then you would have nothing to worry about!
Illegals then would have to leave because they can't get a job. Sounds like a win-win situation to me!!!

I vote yes. E-verify should be mandated for all hiring entities, both public and private. There should also be mandated use of E-verify for all those who apply for public assistance, along with mandated reporting to ICE.

Yes. Stimulus money should be for Americans ONLY.

The ballot questions should include:
Amnesty Yes or No
Illegals deported Yes or NO
Birthright citizenship Yes or No
E-verify Yes or No- it has proved to be very effective
Lower limits on visas Yes or No

Our government owes us the votes. We should have the final say in all areas. These people have been in office to long and are no longer interested in representing voters. They are interested in fattening their bank accounts and having their name in the history books.

Use of E-Verify hits some bumps

Among the problems that have been identified with E-Verify, according to a report commissioned by the Homeland Security Department:

* The system gives preliminary rejections to workers who should be approved, particularly non-U.S. citizens. Only 0.1 percent of U.S.-born workers received false rejection notices between 2004 and 2007. The rate for foreign-born workers was 3 percent.
â€œThe result is increased discrimination against foreign-born employees,â€ the report says.

* Some employers fail to tell workers they were rejected, which eliminate their opportunity to appeal. Others use E-Verify illegally by checking job applicants. Checks must be done after someone starts working. Workers have eight days to appeal a preliminary rejection and cannot be fired in that time.

* E-Verify does not keep people from using fraudulent IDs to get work authorization.
