This is all trash to get the focus on illegal immigrants. The economy is going to hell because of a trillion dollar deficit from the pointless war and that is incomparable compared to the millions illegals mooch off the health care system.

The rate of illegal immigration has not changed, yet all the stories suddenly switched to illegal immigrant problems in the news. This is a political switch for when blame time comes and the economy is doing horrible, people will blame immigrants instead of the massive accumulated debt killing our soldiers to protect some random countries oil for exxon.
illegals work cheap. The companies get more profits. The companies have to pay more taxes. Taxes pays the illegals healthcare. Blame the companies that employ them cheap if you have a problem with that and demand they give them healthcare like any citizen. Right now they work for slave labor prices and get hurt, just like anyone else. |

pa passed a law that if you are caught with illegals working for you, you will have to pay back any grant money that you were given and you are not entitled to any more. it's not the best but it is a start. |

Sure they should, and guess who will repay the company..you guessed it, YOU! In increased prices . Might be better to think this one through a little more. |

I live in Ca where they don't even check whether you are Pedro, Carlos, or Maria because they pay cash. Businesses don't want to pay the worker's compensation, state and federal taxes, Medicare, Fica, health insurance and state disability. They would rather transfer the costs to the taxpayer citizens in the state. It not only saves them money, but rewards them with bigger profits, CEO compensation and shareholder investment. It behooves them to hire illegals with a don't ask, don't tell policy.
Just take a look at the construction trades, the hospitality industry, the meat cutting and packing industry, all of which have seen a decline in the average hourly wage as more companies hire illegals to do those jobs. Illegals want a better life, they are not going to be out there picking produce for long, they are after your job and the company you work for will give it to them, too. They will work for far less than you do and with less overhead. |

Definitely yes. It will cut down on the number of illegal immigrants work in our country, and it just may force these companies to pay a decent wage. Maybe this will also cut down on the I.D. theft also, wouldn't that be wonderful. |

Absolutely they should be made to pay fines. However, their lobbies are on top of the bills, so I expect their liability will be muted. I saw words like 'actual knowledge' of hiring 8 or more illegals before criminal penalties in the House Bill.
Without those fines, even with border security, they will keep coming. |

The answer to this question is this:
"WHY AREN'T THEY being made to pay fines for hiring the
Illegal Immigrants"
It's not as if they can't locate contractors and companies who are doing the hiring. They are ALL OVER the place.
I would love to see one of these politicians and ask him face to face that question and see him/her try to dance their way out of it. |

Companies should be made to pay fines for trying to offer any group of workers less than the deserve. |

Yes, fines and imprisonment. |

Yes, I think they should definitely have to pay fines for that, and I also believe that any immigrant that has been found to have come here illegally should be deported and not allowed to return. btw... I'm an immigrant, but I went through the paperwork and came here legally. If I can do it, all the immigrants can do it, they think they're special and don't feel like going through the legal process. It's wrong, and they should be punished, and anyone helping them do it should be fined. |

I think America has laws in place and they need to be followed. If a person wants to come to America, that's fine, but do it right. And yes, I think business should pay a VERY hefty fine for it, but they do it because it's cheap labor and their overhead doesn't go up as much. So now, all the jobs have to base their minimum wage around what these people make, meaning that minimum wage no longer is enough to support most people unless you have 10-20 people living in a 2 bedroom apartment. |

First, yes, companies should be fined for breaking employment law.
Second, recent research that I can't find right now, indicates that the majority of illegal aliens working in this country are being hired by individuals, not companies. I'm willing to be some of those very same individuals are screaming the loudest to get rid of the illegals. So you need to expand the concept of who gets fined, if you want to address the problem. |

Only if you can prove the knew they were illegal. Many illegals have good fake id. I had one with a fake social security number once and the irs sent a letter saying this may be a fake number but do not fire them yet we will get back to you. |

Yes, check out Food Inc. then tell me what you think! A certain company has deals with immigration to arrest illegal workers but they make sure only a certain number of workers are arrested per week so they can be sure they won't have to stop production lines. The workers are the ones who pay the price. This company should be shut down no matter how big it is and how much money they make. But they just seem to buy off the law. |
