Yes, a green card. They are doing well. And if they stay in America and become citizens they will actually be a help rather than a hinderance.

When you educate someone and then drive them out, you create the "Brain Drain" phenomena which leads to economic problems.

They are illegal, they shouldn't be in the nation at all.

They should return to their home country and apply to come here legally so that they can be taken seriously and respect our nation through abiding by our laws.

I think illegals should not have any benefits from our great nation. This includes illegals from every part of the world.

I do not blame them for wanting to be in this great nation but we simply can not take everyone and it is a privelege to be in this nation and that privelege should be earned.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like what you're asking is whether or not we should ignore criminal behavior, if the person in question does well in school.

Will this philosophy apply to crimes other than illegal immigration? I'm just wondering because, as a straight A student myself, I wouldn't mind being able to get away with breaking any laws I happen to find unfair or inconvenient.

Perhaps what we should do is create a whole new system of social classes. We can have 2 groups of people - one group will be forced to obey all laws, and the other can just do anything and everything they want to.

Edit: Ah, I see. You're one of those "all-or-nothing" type of thinkers. You seem to believe that because a given way of doing things is not a perfect solution, then we should completely discard that way of doing things. What you fail to understand is that, in most areas of life, there are no perfect solutions. To put this in terms your (obviously) limited mind can understand, what we're talking about here is the lesser of all possible evils.

Is forced deportation of someone brought here as a child an ideal solution? No. But the fact remains, they are here, in this country, in violation of the law. *That* is not debatable. To choose to ignore this fact is to choose to selectively enforce the law. Given that, my question still stands: how far does that go? Do you seriously think that you, and you alone, should decide which laws apply to you, simply because you are able to do well in a laughably unchallenging public school system?

The fact that you so obviously believe this calls into question (for me) your capacity for rational thought. It also indicates these high grades you're so proud of are not from a classroom teaching basic logic.

The question would seem better if it was should the US taxpayer pay for education of illegal aliens? And healthcare while we are there. Both are a huge drain on boarder state budgets as they try and deal with massive quatities of semi-literate non-English speaking kids.

With the green card maybe we should give them a nice fat sub-prime loan too. Then they can move right in and call the rest of thier extended family to come hang out and get with the program. Rewarding illegal behavior only begets more illegal behavior. If there is no price to pay, it only invites more people looking to come on over. With a policy at least you get some say as to who visits and how thier skill set might help the country. With open boarders you get the destitute and the refugees.

One of the biggest problems is that people do not see illegal aliens as criminals. Hell, they haven't killed anyone!! But the bottom line is that they have and are committing a crime. So my answer is NO, they need to have the proper documentation to go to school here. Our schools are over crowed as it is, our American children are left behind and many cannot read or write at the level they should be at. I will continue to look for undocumented aliens and return them to their home country. I have found that most people who support illegals either have one in the family or know someone who does. Do any of you have a teenage kid who tried to get a job last summer? Almost impossible. We need to take care of our own!!

There are millions of immigrants just as smart as you. They had to go through all the ropes to get their green cards. Why do you think you shouldn't need to. If nothing else, be fair to others situations. They had to wait, so should you.

What is the point of having 'Student Visas' if we allow illegals in the classroom?

I have a solution for a child who was brought here and who grew up in the United States who is illegal; that child could volunteer for Military Service and earn his legal status.Then he could go to school on the G.I. Bill.

No, of course not. That would be rewarding the criminal behavior. When the child becomes 18 they need to go back to their own country and apply to come here legally.

What ever they achieved education wise was at the legal taxpayer's expense.

No the problem originated with the parents. They have already recieved a free education at taxpayers expense. Let them go home and come back legally to continue their education if they so choose now they are old enough to make their own choice.

I have family that goes to college with NO help from the gov. (Government aid) because they have no greencard.

College is not free with or without papers, and for some reason people like to think illegals get a free ride. But whatever they have to tell themselfs I guess.

So if someone WANTS to improve there situation and be part of the working force by getting a education, what's the problem of letting them stay here legaly? The only thing there guilty of is showing they want a education by working hard. And keep on hitting the books, they can never take your diploma from you!

p.s....grades are not given, there earned so peoples theory of free rides goes out the window.

In general I think they should. I don't think AP/honor classes should really be a requirement though- my high school never offered either and its the same at plenty of schools across the country. I don't think people should be punished for that. Also, I really think criminal record should be far more important than any kind of school record.

I guess the younger the person came to the US the more weight should be given to their application. People who turn up in America at 16 should not get the same benefits as people who were brought here by their parents at the age of 6 or something.

I think so, they would contribute to the economy and society far more than if they had to continue living on the margins of society doing menial labor. College graduates aren't a drag on the system, they're the ones who start businesses and get high-paying/tax-generating jobs.
