Honestly A LOT of illegal and legal immigrants own American property. The illegals find someone that will take cash and the house is theirs. And the legal immigrants obviously do it legally and the correct way. |

Immigrants should and can as far I know do pretty much whatever a citizen can do, with some obvious exceptions like vote in an election.
People who are breaking the law by being here illegally are criminals and are already prohibited from doing all kinds of things here. They shouldn't even be here in the first place.
We are not some third world backwater like Mexico, where non-citizens are prohibited from owning coastal property among a laundry list of other restrictions.
So to answer your question....

I know a Canadian woman that lives in Canada. she owns a couple properties in America. how does that grab you?.......since when was there a law against Americans owning property in Mexico? i have an American friend that owns a house down there on the beach where he plans to go and retire in a few years. |

Excuse me? Your supposition doesn't make sense, aside from expressing a xenophobic rant.
First of all, immigrants, legal and otherwise, don't come to the US to be lazy. And in order to own property in the US, they've got to have some money. Well, doesn't it follow that they've got to work hard to earn some coin to own some property? Or else they're here with money to buy it up.
In any case, this money HELPS the US economy, and may be what's helping to keep it afloat. |

In many countries, Americans cannot own property.
I wouldn't mind our immigration laws so much, if we were tough on everything. If other people had to abide by similar laws as Americans: 90 days, then out, no jobs locals could perform, less than 50% ownership of property, etc. If that's the case, we don't take in refugees and everyone who overstays his Visa has the potential of a hefty fine or jail, like Thailand. That means we jail British citizens, etc. and fine them. |

I am against foriegners owning any property in the USA. I have Canadian friends, but am strongly against having them own anything ( especialy in Florida). The goverment in Florida is weak, and will take anything they can get , even if comes from Canada! Being from New York State, I'm goiung to have to talk to my state senators and push to make Florida comply with US Constitusional regulations that they have been neglegting.
