* knowingly assists illegal aliens due to personal convictions.

Penalties upon conviction include criminal fines, imprisonment, and forfeiture of vehicles and real property used to commit the crime. Anyone employing or contracting with an illegal alien without verifying his or her work authorization status is guilty of a misdemeanor. Aliens and employers violating immigration laws are subject to arrest, detention, and seizure of their vehicles or property. In addition, individuals or entities who engage in racketeering enterprises that commit (or conspire to commit) immigration-related felonies are subject to private civil suits for treble damages and injunctive relief.

Depends on the help. If his kid is bleeding to death then give them a ride to the hospital, call an ambulance, etc.
If you are helping him commit an immigration crime then NO! It is already illegal to aid, abet and/or harbor an illegal alien.

French protestors demonstrate against government measures taken against illegal immigrants, condemning prosecution for the crime of solidarity.

Thousands of protesters in more than 90 cities across the country went on a major strike, condemning the new government actions which incriminate people aiding illegal immigrants.

The strike was organized by non-governmental organizations including Emmaus, the Catholic Relief Services and the League of Human Rights along with other leftist and religious opposition groups.

People have been protesting in Paris, Marseille, and Toulouse among other key French cities, denouncing the government's new decision to jail and fine "any person who will, by direct or indirect attempt to ease or facilitate the entry, movement or residence of a foreigner in France," AFP reported.

The French government under President Nicholas Sarkozy has tightened anti-immigration laws -- a policy that caused major unrest in cities like Strasbourg last year.

Sarkozy, himself son of a Hungarian migrant, introduced tougher regulations to discourage new migrants seeking refuge in France and also hardened the existing laws against fresh onshore immigrants.

The latest controversial measure metes out a five-year jail term plus a fine of 30,000 euros to those who aide and abet "aliens" without proper migration documents.

The Wednesday protests were in unison against their issue with Sarkozy's new government bill, chanting, "If solidarity is a crime, we ask to be prosecuted for this crime."

If this was the case one must step back and Question such Law. Besides many of these Human Beings are Illegal by the People that want them to be. This Nation would go down for sure then because that would only be a Dead Give Away about the So-Called Justice System in this Country though we have seen things like this happen before, Upgrade in the Laws are "Breaking The Laws". And it's the People that allows this to happen over and over again. And for the Record no it's not a Crim to help those that is being called Illegal and if there was such thing as this it would only give good reason too have no Respect for the Laws not saying that one should not do such thing, But when you have Laws that have no Respect for the People what is one too do but Disrespect such Laws. What do you think? It should be legal to be illegal? Do you realize how stupid that sounds? No matter what your intentions are, be they noble and heartfelt, there is no excuse for breaking the law when there are legal avenues set up to handle the situation.

Allowing yourself to compound the situation by breaking laws yourself simply adds to the frustration and desperation.

I think it will be more of a sin not to help a person just because of his legal status depending on the situation...law abiding or not. God must be disgusted at the Americans that take things for granted that support deporting their illegals back to their country to live miserably especially at the ignorant ones that support deportation while they are middle class citizens that have a nice home and drive nice cars and some just use the illegal immigration issue as a mask for their racism and xenophobia. I think every human being deserves to be helped no matter where they come from, legal or illegal.. and everyone deserves to have a good life if they work hard enough and illegals have no other choice but to immigrate illegally because their home country lacks opportunities that America has and they find it impossible to immigrate legally to this great country. I think that is very unfair for these people who are also children of God just like you and me.
