To me, that is a no brainer, but it hasn't been happening. They are just starting 'pilot programs' to evaluate it now.
To me, kicking out the criminals while we secure the border and put internal enforcement in place would let us decide about the rest of them later. Once we have plugged the leak, I'd be open to legalization (without 'family reunification' chain immigration) for those here. In the mean time, though, 302,000 criminals being deported a year would certainly help!

As much as I'd love to say yes.... I'll point out two problems with it. First, we'd be paying a lot to ship them back out. Secondly, they'll just come back anyways. I say we make the next reality TV show out of them. Throw them all on an island somewhere and tell them that the family that comes out alive gets to stay in the US. |

you make a valid point but i must bring up the same idea with the GITMO detention center, they dont want to let them go because they fear that they will return to the battlefield.
If those immigrants are released i would not be surprised to find them crossing the border again in the near future....
These are people but they HAVE commited a crime, they should accept the penalties for the crime they have commited and then be sent home, some time in a jail cell may make them think twice about breaking American laws, otherwise, they would have even more disrespect for america than they have already shown |

Yes, absolutely without a doubt! But, if they won't deport them and have to jail them, I think they should be put in a tent city jail like that Sheriff in Arizona has. The inmates live in tents, no air conditioning, they must wear pink undies and socks, hard labor, and they get one TV channel (some religious station), and bologna to eat. I love that Sheriff Joe Aripoai (or something like that). But, the best choice, of course is to send them packing! |

That would leave a loophole for them. They could come here and do anything they wanted, then as punishment, get deported so they can try again. |

I think they should spend their incarceration time doing common labor to relieve the burdens they've created....the same thing legals must do...a work program. Then, when they have served their time they should be deported to the furthermost point in their country from our country. May be walking another 800 miles will dampen their desire to return here...
Should they return, incarceration for a specific time, with the same work program in place. This way it won't be a free ride. |
