I am amazed that this issue still exists. Closing this loophole was proposed on a regular basis in the public forum in the 1980's and still nothing has been done. Our congress in action. We can make disparaging remarks against our soldiers, interfere with immigrations enforcement, but we cant do a single thing to close a simple loophole in the constitution. |

I think that if people come here illegally, then any children that they have here should be illegal also.
It's not right that they pop out dozens of kids so that they can stay here and feed off of our system. |

Of course! The origional purpose of this law has absolutely nothing to do with what Mexicans are abusing it for. |

yes, yes and yes. |

Well, I'm almost inclined to agree with you.
The mexicans come here illigally and have
babies faster than rabbits can pop out little
bunnies. If this keeps up in ten years there
will be more mexicans here than any other
race. Watch out Canada, you are next for
the invasion. |

Of course it needs to be shut, the gaming of our laws to get subsidies from our services is ridiculous. That is why every EU country that had it has ended automatic birthright citizenship. |

Yes, We as U.S. citizens pay for them. If they have the money to pay for the baby in the U.S. then they are "buying" citizenship. Are we really for sale? Hopefully the laws will change soon. |

Maybe it would be a good thing for all children to inherit the same citizenship as their parents. Unless of course, the parents have legal permanent residency - then I think their children should be U.S. citizens. That seems fair. :-) |

It would take a constitutional amendment, which probably isn't going to happen anytime soon.
The HR bill is just a publicity ploy to get votes. |

Yes, and that's why I support HR 1940 which would end the loophole. So does my Congressman, who's quite a bit brighter and far more patriotic than one of my Senators. |

For unmarried women who can't even find or name the father, yes. |

Perhaps the concept of automatic citizenship should be eliminated for all. Maybe only those people who contribute at least 4 years to the military or public service should be granted citizenship? |

no, we need more people in the USA. |
