Should the Ghurkas be allowed to immigrate here ?

Ghurkas are some of the best soldiers in the world and by serving this country they should have the automatic right to choose whether to return to Nepal after service or stay in the UK. It's an utter disgrace that they don't.

They're not even paid the same pension as British ex service personnel because the cost of living is lower in Nepal than in the UK. It is utterly disgusting.

If you had ex Gurkhas living in your street, you wouldn't have chavs making a nuisance of themselves for long.

I completely agree with you. If the Ghurkas are good enough to fight on our behalf in the armed forces, then the least they should get in return is British citizenship.

If they have done the time in the forces yes. I understand that those who serve a certain time in the French Foreign Legion are granted French Nationality if they want it so why can not thsi country after all we seem to let a gang of wasters in on the human rights kick

They put their lives on the line for another country - they work incredibly hard, leaving their families behind, and then they get treated like animals. This is an absolute disgrace. The ghurkas are a terribly important part of the army, we should show that we are grateful to them.

Course they should, but it seems that if your an enemy to this country or hate it, you have all the necessary criteria to live here and get more off the system than what our tax payers or ex military are entitled to. My husband has been medically discharged and we have had to struggle all the way and then prove that he is British to be eligible for Incapacity benefit. What happened to patriotism?

Of course the Gurkha's should be allowed to live here if they have fought in our armies then they should be entitled to the same pension rights as other British serving forces or retired personnel. It is an absolute disgrace that they have had to beg for what should be the right that they have earned in service for us.
I have meet a number of these brave soldiers they are a very gentle polite credit to their Nation (as long as they are not in a war zone) and I for one welcome them to stay here.

You've answered your own question. Yes they should be allowed to live here; fight for a country, you've earned the right to live there.

As for your second point, the majority of these people who hate us and want to kill us don't need to 'come over'; as was the case with the 7 July bombers and the the IRA, INLA, UVF. The list goes on.

I was in the USMC and got shot 4 times in Afghanastan in 2002. I'd love to say I did it all for my country, but the fact is I was in the Corp before 9/11. I wanted money to go to college, and it's a good way to get it. If a man/woman really puts his/her life in harms way in the defence of this country we should welcome them. Most of the world hates us, including the Mexicans that cross the border. You don't think they do? We are dispised by nearly everyone because we have it better than them. Also because we do sorta impress our values on others sometimes. No ones perfect.
