No. The National Guard personnell on the border need to be given more common sense rules of engagement, and a clear mission statement that includes enforcement capabilities.
It is demoralizing for a warrior to be ordered to run from a battle that could be won if the warrior were allowed to engage the enemy.

Yes, and I only say that because they are not allowed to guard the border. They are washing the vehicles of the border patrol and changing the oil on those vehicles. Send them home.

If the national guard was allowed to guard the border, I would say let them stay.

Absolutely not, what they need to do is give them the right to detain any illegals when they come across until border patrol gets there. Recently there was a situation where our national guard backed up from the border when it was being approached by 3 armed men wearing bullet proof vests. Reason was they were given strict orders not to fire unless they were fired upon. They called the border patrol but by the time that border patrol got there these guys were gone back into Mexico. Are they trying to recruit more before they come at the border again? This would be my thoughts. If you are not giving these guys the right to detain illegals then why are you putting them at guard posts along the border? I agree with the guard being there as long as they are allowed to do whatever is necessary to protect our borders. Especially in this day and age.

Until Socrates gets his wish and the Mexican economy is strong enough that they want to stay and work in their own country, I would have to give an unfortunate no. And no, I'm not a racist. I have no problem with someone wanting to come visit, learn, or work in our beautiful country, or even to want to become a citizen. However, there is a LEGAL way to do it, and the last I heard is actually fairly generous.

No they should stay. I'm with the dude before me, but I think they should keep the national guard and put some marines (heavily armed marines) at the border. I don't care what they say, if I was in charge, I would order that every single illegal found even an inch over the Rio Grande should be shot and killed and not sent back to Mexico. The Illegal immigrants have just gone too far. Something should be done with them.
