Should the UK introduce a law making it a criminal offence to help an illegal immigrant?

It has enough laws to do just that. But mainly, the more direct laws are aimed at traffickers and employers of those illegals. However, a lorry driver that 'accidentally' brings some in when they sneak aboard his lorry can be heavily fined, even though he had no idea that they were aboard his truck.

I know a bloke who employed some by accident, their passports and visas looked in order, but they were all forged. He nearly went to court and nearly lost his business for it, but they eventually let him off. The law is already tough, but many are still sneaking through.

Well I don't see the point in making more laws, because the way our corrupt self serving legal system is run, it will be written in with so many 'money generating' loopholes, that it will be ineffective, and cost the tax payer even more money. That's all the legal system seems to be set up for since new labour got in...milking the taxpayer. Its not effective in any other way. They recon that the best estimate for the removal of ONE single individual illegal, is about half a million pounds, from start to finish. Work it out for your self. There are millions of illegals here, and you can bet your life that new labour will offer an amnesty just before election time. The British public are being taken for fools. The British national party will close our borders and use the armed forces, in conjunction with the cooperation of the public, to round up all illegals and send them home. That is the only efective way of removing them. Its just that no one in government has the balls to do it. Or the balls to admit the cost, to the public, for their mistake. Mass uncontroled immigration has been, long term, the single most destructive thing this country has ever been subjected too. And the stabb to the back of Britain, was delivered by the judas labour party, in exchange for Islamic banking deals. Browns visson of Britain being the Islamic banking centre of Europe.

Then the UK Government will have to prosecute itself. The UK government already helps illegal immigrants by not having a zero tolerance policy.
It says one thing and does another on the issue.

Trafficking people is already illegal in the UK. But helping people such as health, education or welfare is what makes a civilised country.
No one is illegal,it is about state laws and what kind of society we want to live in. The UK has always been a home to people who are forced by economic or religious reasons to flee their home countries.
Trafficking is also a world wide problem, it has become more profitable than the drug trade, so thats why it is big business, if you make the world a safer place and can stop this illegal trafficking then we will have less need for immigration or emigration

Hi there
This question raises the moral conflict between Justice and Mercy.
Justice deems that an illegal immigrant should not be assisted in any way. Mercy decrees that it would be difficult to withhold food and shelter to an illegal immigrant.
I think we should rather focus on the unfair distribution of the world's resources. Consider the multi-million pound slimming industry in the West. They don't appear to have this problem in Third World countries.
