No. Illegal immigrants are here illegally. They should be deported to their country of origin. Tax payers are funding the schools here in the USA, and allowing people who are here illegally to take advantage of our resources without paying for them is inherently unfair. There are legal ways to become citizens and those methods are in place for a reason.

We can't build schools fast enough to keep up with the birth rate of immigrants. Schools don't have enough funds for teaching materials and teachers. Classes are over crowded. Too many different languages. Education is in a crisis.

There is a moral side that thinks we should educate because it is the proper thing to do.

There is the realist side that says we should not, because they do not contribute taxes and they are here illegally on top of it, and educating the kids is giving tacit approval of the presence of the illegals.

I tend to side with the realists.

I say no, I live in a city that is a santuary city, The schools here used to be outstanding, Now due to a massive influx of illegal kids the schools are in terrible shape, I pay for my grandghildren to go to private schools. The area that I live in used to be a very nice suburb with great schools now it is a filthy ghetto.

Greasy's comment that immigrants are a net benefit to the economy is a misleading when we are talking about illegal immigrants because his citation shows the contributions of both legal and illegal immigrants. I a legal immigrant and a citizen and make a six figure income. When you average my income and other highly skilled legal immigrants with low skilled poorly paid illegal immigrants, it wouldn't be surprising that immigrants as a whole pay more than they take but if you look at purely illegal immigrants, they take much more than they contribute.

In Los Angeles it cost about $7,000 per year to send a kid to school. I wonder how many illegal aliens are contributing more than $7,000 per year in taxes? That only covers schooling. What about all the other costs - infrastructure, public services, military... There's no way that an illegal alien, only some of whom pay income tax through identity theft, could match the cost it takes to run this society.

if one parent is an american citizen, then yes the child can attend school because they entitled to an education.

The children born to illegal immigrants are illegal immigrants themselves. They both need permission from the federal government to enter the United States, in accordance with US Code 8. That is the law and it does not need to be amended or challenged to accommodate illegal immigrants. Illegal immigrants simply broke the law and they need to be deported.

And before you can say how cold and callous the United States is then try looking at illegal immigrant parents. They knew they were breaking the law when they came into this country illegally and knew the consequences of bringing children into the world under these conditions. They are living in â€œharmâ€™s wayâ€ and having their children suffer for their cold and callous decisions.

Whether they provide a service to this country or just trying to find a better way of life is still no excuse to break legitimate US laws.

It is sad that these children have to suffer but we cannot afford to have sanctuary cities or anchor babies in the United States when it is illegal and eroding this country. Their parents should have thought about this when they brought children into this world.

Additional Comments: I understand it is not the childrenâ€™s fault but it is the responsibility of their parents to provide for them for the first 21 years. These parents have a hard time providing for themselves as individuals. What makes you think they can provide for their children when they are in dire straights? The poor immigrant mother has to really think hard before she has babies and the father has to responsible for his actions. The United States and state governments are not there to solve illegal immigrantâ€™s mistakes. And â€œIâ€™m Your Captainâ€, that is a very good point you made.

Well, on the one hand they are citizens if born here in the US. On the other hand, the entire family should be deported and the children get their education at Mexico's cost.

I personally feel it's more important to enforce the laws already in place regarding illegal criminal aliens. We don't need to encourage them by housing, educating, giving medical treatment, food stamp assitance, jobs, or any more oxygen into their lungs here in the US.

In addition I think we should immediately cease the English as a second language program and stop teaching any classes in any other language than English.

In the 1980s California voters passed a proposition that would deny public education to the children of illegal immigrants. That was thrown out by courts because it was felt that the cost to society in crime for having bands of uneducated, illiterate children roaming the streets would be far more than the cost of educating them. At least school keeps them busy enough so that most of them do not turn to crime. And they learn discipline from having to go to school every day.

Is this fair. No, we should not have to pay for then to get schooling. But you either pay it in the classroom or you pay it in policing, prisons and by having everything is sight getting stolen.

In Mexico, foreign students cannot go to school unless they show they are in the country legally.

So, why should the USA be any different.

Open the floodgates..Let them come in and take over,,, sell their drugs,, commit crimes,,,.Let the U>S> government pay for their medical, their education,,their college,,social security, food, shelter, clothing, babies out of wedlock, and while we are at it.. lets change the official language to whatever they are speaking!!!! And lets spend millions and trillions bailing out greedy auto companies who mismanage their money, greed Ins, companies, (like AIG), and greedy banks ( cant believe they are really broke), and wasting money helping the rich, giving money to farmers in the south for farms that havent been there for years,, and spending millions sending space shuttles into outer space. And then we can all scratch our heads and wonder why there are no jobs and money left for the children and their education,, and for the dying breed of real honest to goodness upstanding " true American citizens" who have fearlessly earned a right to be here and to be helped in this country.
