if I move to Italy, I'll learn Italian, if to Brazil, Portuguese, Germany? well, I'd have to learn German and so on... it's very rude to move to another country and expect the population to speak your native language.

I am hispanic my mother from California and my father from Columbia. I speak spanish and english. But I feel the United States caters to much spanish language and is not fair. When entering the USA you should learn the language or at least attempt to. Apon entering other contries they expect you to know their language, Why is any different here? One person should learn English not the whole country learn Spanish! |

That is just wonderful. Personally I support teaching more than one language in our schools.
However, there needs to be a universal standard language used for official business. The traditional language of this country is English and needs to officially recognized as such, if for no other reason than to keep us from having to provide all government documents in English, Spanish, German, Cantonese, Swahili, etc... |

It would be a further insult to Americans. If it were not done now, at this time, it might be an interesting idea.
The truth of the matter is, as in line with the rest of the lies Americans are being fed daily, the language is part of our official language. You can't go to any government building without there being both Spanish and English posted for all business.
This sort of thing is what Americans are getting more and more angry about. They are being told lies and cheated. The outcome will be ongoing anger at those who speak other languages and dislike/disappointment with the concept of Democracy and Americanism. Witness America in a downward spiral ...perhaps to it's own end. |

If you do puzzles and math problems and solve riddles....play Scrabble and Monopoly and card games... all of that type of creative thinking also delays dementia. We only need ONE official language here, English. If you want to habla espanol, or any other language, that's fine with me, but we need a single language if we're going to remain a unified country, and English, with its long tradition of use here, is the logical choice. |

Although, there is a large number of Spanish speakers visiting and living in the U.S., it would be absurd to make Spanish an official language of the United States. Considering that the U.S. is conflux with many different cultures and with many different languages, to make Spanish an official language will effectuate a onslaught of outcries. |

I speak 4 languages myself, English, French(my heritage),Spanish, and Tagalog But his counties constitution is written in English, while I support the idea of Americans holding on to their heritage by retaining the language of there ethnic origin, this is a melting pot to choose one other language to be official would start a huge dilemma of what would be the next, and so on, and so on. |

NO WAY! Its funny, you can go to Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Czech Republic, hell, even go to a farm in china and people can speak english. Why is it that immigrants from spanish speaking countries can't learn it? Perhaps they have a learning curve that does not allow them to keep up with the rest of the world, even farmers in remote lands of China. |
