WHY should LEGAL Chinese immigrants be forced to learn Spanish? They already need ENGLISH.
USA needs to stop favoring Spanish as the national language of the USA. More and more Americans cannot get hired because they are not bi-lingual in their own country.
Go to Mexico and see how Bi-lingual they are!! Seirously, the only reason America caters to Spanish speakers is to get their attention and then their cash. Americans don't need the limited few pesos the Mexicans dish out.
In short, the educated Mexicans speak English. So we're only kissing up to the poor uneducated masses from another country by learning Spanish. I mean seirously, our forefathers gotta be rolling in their graves over the prospect of having to convert everything. |

NO.. when they do it for the WRONG reasons.
It's good to teach children a foreign language, just as a supplement, but they can't forget what the main language in the country is.

Not a requirement, a voluntary elective is fine. I feel the same as another person who answered this question. Let's get English down first! |

actually the studies Ive read , say being immersed in a single language , speeds up the learning and assimilation process. especially in the younger years. |

Let's focus on learning English correctly first. Not only the immigrants don't know English, but neither does half the American population. |

Just my opinion, no. If someone wants to live in a foreign country, they should want to learn the lingo.
Btw, are you suggesting two teachers /per class, or all bi-lingual teachers. |

I believe it would be good for American children to learn another language if nothing else to broaden their horizons.I also believe our primary language should and always will be English but it does no harm being able to communicate with foreigners. |

I agree, especially since you spelled "education" as "edcuation". |

So why do they have to learn Spanish why not any other languages. |

We already have classes for students to learn other languages. I think everyone should know English as a primary language for communications. However, I do think that students benefit from learning other languages also; my kid does at least. |

We have elective courses to teach them now. It should not be a required course. Plus how are we to decide which languages would be required. You cant teach every language in the world. |

When I visited Europe I was happy to see that in every country there was more than one language and was wondering why Americans don't bother to learn other languages....I think it is beneficial myself...and kinda fun! |

The demographics in this country is rapidly changing so this does make sense. I'm sure in time, people will stop fighting and start accepting the reality. |

i think we should all go back to the beginning and be required to learn and speak latin!!!
no actually todays youth would all respond to a universal slang language such as "gangsta rap"!!!! |
