I would say that if an illegal immigrant commits a serious crime (rape, murder, stealing, vandalism, etc) they should be sent home. But for those that are not causing a problem, we should not punish them. They are an asset.

It is a serious crime but they can't put you in jail for it. International law states deportation to the home country. They are left inside the border not in the desert. The treaty with Mexico is to deport, Mexico does the same with illegal immigrants. There is no such terminology as trespassing International borders. It is called undocumented entry which makes it illegal. Too much speculation and misinformation is bad for the soul, Panchita linda.

If you are not a legal citizen, yes. Every other immigrant who comes here illegally is deported. NO GROUP should take exception.

Trespassing involves crossing onto private or government property without authorization. Illegal immigration is crossing an international border without authorization.

By crossing illegally into the United States, most illegal immigrants are doing both. First, they break Federal law by crossing the U.S. border. Secondly, they break state and local laws by crossing private lands after entering the United States.

Obviously, the first is the greater offense of the two and that is the one that is being addressed in Congress.

The punishment should fit the crime (stealing lawn gnomes should be a felony in my book!). Seriously, trespassing has different degrees of severity, and this is where I lose you, Pancha, trespassing and entering a country illegally are two entirely different things. If you are here illegally, the punishment fitting the crime is... DEPORTATION!!!

Its not a "small crime", for trespassing if you are "trespassing" to cross the boarders Illegally.
If you cross the line Illegally, you get booted simple as that.

It amazes me how many over-simplified arguments you've come up with to either justify, or mitigate the severity of, illegal immigration.

IGNORANCE OF THE LAW IS NO EXCUSE: You don't have to be aware of a law to be punished for breaking it, and when one gets caught then they must face the consequences. PERIOD!
It doesn't matter whether it is trespassing, speeding, littering, jaywalking... or being in this country without the proper documentation.

And no one is 'banishing' anyone! Get the documents you need to be here, and then come back. Is it simple to do?... Probably not,... but the law requires it; and that is simple.

And speaking of which, what kind of person would compare trivial laws,such as those concerning trespassing, with laws that are in place to INSURE THE SECURITY OF THIS NATION?

In today's world of terrorist bombings and the killing of innocent people for extremist reasons my answer would have to be yes. Deportation is not the punishment for coming here illegally. But to allow the illegal immigrant to stay in the USA would be perpetuating the original crime and make the US government a co-conspirator to the the crime. PANCHA it is not fair to allow someone who came here illegally to get US citizenship before someone who has already been waiting in that line. If someone wants US citizenship then they must apply for it from their own country.

Illegal immigration is a Federal Crime, punishable with up to 6 months in jail and deportation. It is a misdemeanor, and what we want to make is a felony crime, which carries up to 2 years in jail. Crossing the border illegally is not just trespassing sweetie, it is invading foreign soil. Technically, you should be shot for doing it, but we are too PC for that right now. But not for loooooonnnnnngggg!!!!
