All we really need to do is cut off all freebies and handouts to illegals. |

Who cares what Mexicans think of this, the border fence is on U.S. soil.
btw, the great wall of China was in China, hence the name Great Wall of "CHINA". |

Really it is just a security fence to protect the country from illegal aliens, who could possibly be dangerous. You can't blame them for wanting to protect you. |

What would you care what your neighbor thought if you put a fence around you yard to keep the riff raff out? |

I hope and pray none of you who have answered this question have to live in a country where you scrape by on nothing. A country where many have not even the necessities of life much less the luxuries of the Americans. I am an American and I think we are all spoiled and ungrateful and we are becoming more so every day. Our country is going to ruins, but it is not because of illegal aliens, it is because of our attitudes, lack of pride and just plain being rude to one another. We truly need for God to Bless America. |

No, it won't get built because 1) it would be too expensive to build and maintain and 2) it would make us look like the bad ol' commies who built a Berlin wall and an Iron Curtain.
Benighted clods who insist on their own unschooled world view will remain oblivious to the real world. But the wall won't happen. Oh, sure, a mile here, a mile there at large ports of entry. But not a 2500-mile Berlin-style wall. |

No! It doesn't take a great wall, and we're not in China! |

I think finally someone figured it out ?
garynandra has posted what Ive felt all along.
Give garynandra the 10 points because this is why there is all this 'close the border business' anyway and the politician's are using it to further their careers.
It never mattered before. |

The illegal immigration that is such a hot issue with US citizens can't be solved with a wall. Just a make work project that will never be finished. The Mexican government has protested. illegal border crossers will find another way and real terrorists will come in with first class tickets and proper identification. |

They should! I am sick of all these *** wholes over here illegally! It pisses me off more then anything when they come over here and the US government gives them what they want, but when its own citizens need them they turn their backs on them. I also think its total bull **** that they want to give them drives licenses and all that ****. When they come over hear illegally they should have no rights! ITS BULL ****!!! |

That's a great idea! Just think of the jobs that would be created! Just think of the tourist it would attract. Just think of the the graffiti creativity it would spark. Brilliant! |

Whatever it takes to stop the flood. I'm for roach motels and fly paper if they work. |

They want to. In response, I say-
"Hello? LADDERS?!" Mexico probably just laughs.
It will cost millions of dollars, and they will just make tunnels and ladders and get over it anyway. Unless they plan to have the entire border staffed 24/7, which would cost us even MORE money that we could be spending on education, or health care, or the environment!
It just needs to be easier the become and America citizen. It currently costs about $600 and takes a year. Do you really think most aliens have the time and money to do that?
If the legal process was shorter (not less relevant-just cut some of the time consuming steps), and it cost less, then I bet that scores of people would sign up to be American citizens! |

It's just a tool to help enforce existing laws. If a fence will help law enforcement then so be it. |

Who cares what Mexicans think? I sure don't. I hope that the US constructs a much more modern wall -- something with razor wire and electrical current. |

No. It would be too expensive to construct and maintain such a wall. |
