A recently published cross party report on immigration, confirmed what 'migration watch' have been saying all along, and certainly what I believe, that it isn't a benefit to the UK. The only people to benefit are the immigrants themselves. It didn't even cover the social consequences, which must be enormous, but it did comprehensively damn every argument put forward by this Government to support its ridiculous immigration policies.

how can a massive influx of unskilled people many needing health-care ,housing and benefits be beneficial.the only reason is for the government to undermined the trade unions with cheap labour.give it three years and the minimum wage,pensions,safe working condition and all the other things the unions have fought for will disappear and people will fight to work for any wage

I don't think they do because if they were not here there would be jobs available for our own people, even the jobs that no one wants could be filled if better rates of pay and working conditions were brought into force and we would be better off in the housing waiting lists etc. I am not racist but I think they should not be allowed into our country unless the qualify with the new points system that the government is bringing out - Germany doesn't allow them into their country?

In the old days it did. Now no one takes into consideration the lack of jobs for the working class British born person and just gives those jobs away. They could but the Labour party keep knocking the very people their party was born to look after. No. They are a $350,000,000,000.00 per year drain on the taxpayers. To put in perspective that is $200,000,000,000.00 more that it Iraq war cost per year. The cost is about $2000.00 per family in the United States. So, many families get cheated out of a family vacation because the have to pay for someone that chooses to ignore laws. This does not even cover any social issues.

Immigrants can help the economy in the short run if they have knowledge and skills which are not possessed by current residents of a country. But why do not current residents have such skills? Immigrants have a depressing influence on local wages. Immigrants do bring a new look at current problems in a country. They bring new ideas and culture. Too much of anything is bad. Why are so many in England leaving their country?

Gordon Brown said today that the wonderful mass immigration policy quote: "adds 6 billion the UK economy".Now the UK population of 60 million divided into Â£6 billion= a measly Â£100 per person.

I think that Â£100 per year to accept so many extra people into the UK is a bad deal for the real British.In any case the House of Lords survey did say that mass immigration increases house prices so even the measly Â£100 is probably more than lost.

Depends on the immigrant.

Small amounts of properly vetted, skilled immigrants like doctors and engineers, who are able to support themselves financially, can benefit the economy and community.

Mass unskilled immigration from penniless people "looking for a better life" benefits only business owners who get easily available workers who will work for peanuts and not demand such things as fair treatment, holiday pay and other basic workers' rights which the unions bust their guts trying to secure for the British Worker. Middle class idiots get cheap cleaners to clean their houses and cheap nannies for Tarquin and Jemima.

And it benefits the immigrant of course.

The rest of us get no benefit other than reduced wage levels, less training and investment in young British workers, increased competition for jobs and housing, more stress on Health and Education services and decline in law and order.

The migrant gets a better life, and the quality of life of the working class Brit declines!

Net cost to US Tax payers is 70 billion as of 2005 the last year we have government figures. That means what ever benefit they provide is canceled by the cost of social services.

. one bad thing after another, their is minor benefit as well but no enough to off set the the crippling effects it has on the nation. it appears to be the EUski pulling Gordonski's strings . thier [plan to make the UK into the UKski has worked so far.

Immigrants that work and pay taxes contribute nothing to the economy.It has to be remembered that they have a wife and kids who in turn take money out of the system by way of Schooling,Health and other things.It is a myth banded about by some MPs who dont care a damn about the British people.This mess will take years to clean up but no signs are their as yet that this will be done.

Immigrants who are here legally with skills in different trades do benefit our economy and because britain has such a good system in looking after it's residents most immigrants head straight here.

Howevere illegal immigrants also head straight here which is damaging our country both socially and it's beauty.

I have moved in with my boyfriend to East London and have been here for over a year. White English are the minority here and it's shows quite badly. There are police sirens every night all night, violence and threats amoung groups of people. The children are fixated with this Black Ganster culture.

Though it has to be said before this age the streets of London still had white gansters. As far as I understand it was very dangerous back then also.

However the nastiest thing I've seen is the asian population. I bet people are screaming racist now but the truth is that a lot of the women can't speak english and are completely covered up, I've seen some always walking behind their husbands like dogs.

Also there are children that are abused by parents but the mothers cannot talk about it due to the non speaking english fact. I've heard of several girls commiting suicide and also being killed by family...I can't believe family does this due to some weird religious law.

I also hate walking down the street due to immagrants trying to chat me up and trying to get me to go to the pub with them etc.
It's quite scary for a white country girl to be stuck in this environment. In my old area we all got on, immigrants and english a like but this mass of illegal immigrants is killing the society here.

well, obviously, as any logical person can work out, they do not benefit us much.

The majority to migrants (not all, but a fair lot) are working for minimum wage. A lot of migrants then send home a vast amount of the money they earn to their family in their home country. Whilst they are here they are paying little tax (due to low income), yet using services like schools and hospitals, which are already overstreatched. A few may end up taking up council houses, or in prisons, again taking more money away from the economy.
Yes many are hardworking and spend money in britain, but a lot don't, and all the money they are putting into the economy, they are taking right out of it through use of services and resources. Personally, i fail to see how they can be of any benefit at all, though at least htey work, unlike some people...

and the answer is a resounding NO!.

labour claims=immigrants benefit the economy by doing the work nobody else will do-lies!!-up to 100.000 youngsters now cannot find work because of the influx of immigrants.

what the labour governemt also failed to mention was that immigrants get older as well!!-so they will be claiming pensions upon retirement age.

160.000 immigrants a year are entering our shores hoping for a better life and to find work-what the government fails to mention is that most of these send their earnings back to their country of origin-so if anyone beleives that this benefits the economy please feel free to explain to me how??

immigrants are considered better workers than the indigenous population??-this argument is simplistic and has no base on account of the fact that a "better" worker would be prepared to work for less pay and poorer conditions-something the indeginous populous will not do.

and once again the old argument cannot and will not go away and this is-our schools/hospitals/prisons/factories and cities are being overrun by immigrants this is not a racist comment-it's a FACT!.

and it is all very well calling brits "lazy" etc-and to some degree there is a valid point here-but...for every lazy brit told to get a job by the government the employer will employ an immigrant in his place because he will work longer hours for less outlay-so it is a no-win situation for the "lazy brit"-sent them all back and 2 main things happen here...

1. the employer will have no option but to employ the brit on better pay-or he doesn't get his work done and ....

2 the brit has no excuse-he has now been offered a job at a reasonable rate of pay-he has no reason to sit on his a*se watching sky telly all day and because any deductions/taxes from his earnings go straight into UK coffers-the economy grows as well.

and enough is enough-it's time they all went home-no hard-luck stories-no special cases. and before the race card gets bandied about-the liberals have to start realising that this is destroying our country-i give it ten years before there is a civil war-and then they will move on to the next country and bleed that dry and leave us to pick up the peices.

Yes, to a certain extent!! Too many does nothing as more houses need to be built and schools are kept behind by students not speaking English!! But they are good because they take many jobs which we dont want!!
