I agree 2 an extent. If u want 2 come 2 the US, then come in legally. I don't think it's fair 4 illegal immigrants 2 just strut around in the US while the people who came in legally just watch them. Yeah, life in Mexico is hard, my friends have visited there, but if they don't come in legally, they'll only get sent back. They could at least get a Visa.

Dude, as much as I am against illegal immigration, they aren't too blame for the housing crunch, its banks that lent out way too much money to people who couldn't afford them... its basically poor personal choices and corporate greed that led to this situation.

Only snag is that most "immigrants" are not officially immigrants, because they came from other EU countries, and are therefore legally entitled to settle anywhere in the EU.

I have lived in slums.....not one white guy owned them. I've had anything but WHITE as an owner. Our newspapers had literally a phone book of pages of slum lords. Not a white guy in the mix. All housing and safety codes. Breaking every rule in the book.......I could very EASILY become a slum lord. I won't....because it's wrong. I don't do business like that.......It's not ALL about the buck. I would never rent what I wouldn't live in. How many out there can say the same?

How many of you sell a 79 cent bag of ice to a person left homeless in a hurricane? Just because you can. How many of you slum motel owners change your room price to make a buck off the suffering of others? I piece of crap room goes from 35 bucks a night to 135 just because you know people need it? If you mean the "credit crunch" the immigrants have nothing to do with this. It was the buy buy buy mentality that the government pushed after 9/11. I would assume that the asking party for this question is a republican (considering the stupidity of the question) and absorbes too much fox nooz show fiction!

I agree that it's far too easy to turn up in the UK and request / get housing and benefits, but at the same time I'd like to think that if my country were torn to bits by war or I feared I'd be killed / my family kidnapped / raped / tortured that I'd be allowed entry into another, safe country.

The problem is that there are many, many immigrants arriving in the UK because they're heard it's so easy to get a home and cash to live off. I have no problem with people who genuinely require a safe place to live, and those who make an effort to become integrated into the country, learn English and attempt to work (yes, this takes time, but the effort is required) are more than welcome. it's those who flat-out refuse to work, then invite their extended family over who get on my nerves (and before anyone says 'that's such a stereotype!' maybe it is, but I know people who work for social services and have MET many such people).

I think there are many immigrants who are much more valuable, contributing members of society than many Brits are. Let's improve immigration control, insist on genuine efforts to learn English and become a contributing member of society and welcome those who need help, not just kick 'them' all out.

PS: The person talking about using a big magnet to remove all the immigrants from the US, I'm pretty sure the ask is talking about the UK here.

You mean the people who build most of the homes in the United States? Gee, get rid of the workforce that builds homes and housing problem solved! Hmm, perhaps you should think this through some more. The problems that many people THINK are "caused by immigrants" are actually caused by government imposed laws. Before you think about creating a new law you should first look at what is actually causing the problem you are concerned with. I'd be willing to bet it is a law. It would be far better to repeal that law than to create a new one.

Edit: Apple Crumble. There was nothing "nation specific" in the question. Some forms of bigotry cross national bounderies.
