Hi,
I was accepted for doctoral studies in psychology in a UK university, and I'm about to apply for a student Visa.
I have an opportunity to begin therapy (as a patient) with a local extraordinary therapist I know in the city where I'll study.
However, I have some doubts about the program in the university, and there is a some risk that I'll end up discontinuing my studies.
If I know that this possibility will force me to leave the country, I'll not begin the therapy until maybe a year later when I'll be more confident about my studies.
So,
I wonder what happens to my legal status in England, if I end up quitting my studies.
Will the university report to the authorities that I discontinued studies? Am I obliged to report?
Or will I able to stay until the originally planned end of my degree (3 years) and therefore my Visa?
I don't have to work locally, as I'll be working distantly for a company in my home country, so it's only a matter of being allowed to stay.

If you quit your studies, your absence will be reported to UKBA by your education provider within 10 days after the 10th missed expected contact. An expected contact may be a class, an appointment with a tutor or any other prearranged activity or meeting. UKBA will then revoke your visa.
If you decide to go ahead with the visa, come to the UK and decide to discontinue your studies, it is vital that you contact you education provider in writing and explain your decision. You cannot have it both ways. either you are in the UK as a student, or you are not. If you discontinue your studies, you are breaking the conditions of your visa and should return home.
That way, you will not be blacklisted from applying at a later date for a student visa. |

If you quit studies, you are no longer a student.
Your visa becomes invalid, and you have to leave the country.
