I feel proud to be British and live in England cause it seems to me everyone wants to come and live in our country.
But the thing is the true British (people born here and not trying to kill others because of their religion) actually dont have a great life cause we have to pay for all the others that want to come here and sit on their backsides all day.
Although we have our own who do that ie Single teenage mothers benefit scroungers etc I hate them too but would rather pay for them than someone from another country!!!

It makes me feel very proud. I think a lot of people don't realise how extraordinary it is for this tiny, damp little island to have contributed so much to the world, to science, literature, even the world's only de facto language. And even after 2000+ years of history this little nation is still going strong. There will always be an England -- long live the red white and blue.

I would like to say it makes me proud but not anymore the country is just about finished.
And this is our own doing we have let to many immigrants in its just an open door for anyone who is having problems.

Hmm, well I'm Welsh about to marry an English guy and I like the song, it reminds me of the sort of spirit people had in WWII, all pulling together, feeling proud of who you are etc. I don't feel "excluded" by it - it refers to England, just as "Mae Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau" (Land of my Fathers) refers to Wales or "Scotland the Brave" refers to Scotland. We're all entitled to have our own individual songs.

I love Jerusalem as well, just because its such a beautiful tune/lyrics and very stirring, I don't mind that it doesn't refer to Wales. You can still appreciate a song which refers to another country if you are open minded!

I see myself as Welsh and British and I think its a shame that some Welsh people don't share this feeling and want to be Welsh and nothing else. Mind you, I don't come from a Welsh-speaking or Nationalist background, but I like being part of the UK. We are such a big mixture of peoples, local cultures, accents, personalities etc, its what makes the country such a great one to live in. Scots, Welsh and English all fought together in two world wars and its a shame to see such division between us all these days.

My fiance is proud to be English and so he should be. Nothing should stop you being proud of who you are and where you come from, not even the small-minded attitudes of others!

As a true Brit, but not English, it makes me feel like an outsider. Did only the English build what was this once great country? I prefer Rule Brittannia as it's more inclusive. I am very proud of what my country achieved, but not of what it has become, will still happily fly the flag though. .

Yes I am ENGLISH..............of course I am proud of this !
Had I been born in Wales / Scotland / N.Ireland......I would have been proud of my Country of birth.
Had I been born in another country,I would be proud of my place of birth.
Nevertheless had I been forced from my Country of birth I would be thankful to the country that gave me a new life and be for ever grateful for their generosity and become an ardent nationalist.

I reply, quietly so the PC Brigade don't hear it - "there always WAS an England". The only countries in the UK with clear cultural identities now are the celtic ones of Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. What is English "culture" now? It's all second hand black stuff imported from the USA.

That there wont be an England for long :( I was once proud to be British, but with all things going on lately, I am not so proud anymore. Rise in immigration, trying to get rid of the Royal Family, teenage pregnancies are the highest in Europe, and every day in the papers its about rape, murder, crime, even today on Yahoo news, a brit has murdered a US family. Nothing good is happening anymore....

Go check out the flag of Georgia or Sardinia,or even the same cross upon the flags of Milan Barcelona etc etc etc
Everyone wants a piece of St.George it would seem but that cross is definately not English.

I`m from Wales,and though the Union Jack doesn`t recognise my race I feel more of a connection with it now than I would ever dreamt of ten fifteen years ago.
