The British complain about immigration but how many of them emmigrate?

For LEGAL British immigrants to the USA, we don't 'steal' jobs as you put it. Many are on a H1B visa, which you need a minimum of a degree, and/or highly needed job skills, you are paid more than the state average for that job, and the US employer has to prove they can NOT get an American to do that job.

Why did I move from the UK? for a better lifestyle and more pay than that is paid in the UK.

The main sticking point for many people both in the UK and US, is illegals do not want to go through the same process as legal immigrants to gain the right to work and live in a country.

Anyhow, have you got something against the British? as all your questions appear to be that way?

*Edit* Yes there is a visa called a H2 visa for unskilled workers or people who do not hold a degree.

So you have been through the H1B visa process personally have you and know all the requirement for that visa?

Secondly Americans are very proud of where and who they are, and their flag and what it represents. Why do you view the British who do the same with distaste?

More British live abroad than immigrants live in Britain. This will probably change soon, though.

As for "stealing jobs" - it's just silly to talk about that. Immigrants create jobs, too, by buying things, and by starting businesses.

However, a lot of those British overseas are retired sun-chasers, not people working abroad. This is especially true of the ones in Spain and France.

we emigrated to spain for 3 years but have since come back for various reasons, but we didnt steal anyones jobs, we were self employed supplying accomodation for tourists like yourself

A lot of Western immigrants have funds to cover their lifestyle and don't rely on benefits from the country they go to. That's the difference. This country (UK) is too pigging small for any more residents. What's more, many immigrants coming here just don't understand Western lifestyle and aren't prepared to accept it either. They don't deserve the life we can give them.

I moved to China 4 years ago because of rising crime and a general breakdown of decent society where I lived and grew up (a white area).

I don't hear people spouting that "you come over here and take out jobs" nonsense anymore, they're more likely to complain about the rising crime-rate that they believe is perpetuated by certain ethnic groups.. Also people do not like to be alienated in there own areas as there is no longer a need for immigrants into the UK to adapt to British culture. From what I hear the government needs to take measures to integrate immigrants if hostility is to be avoided.

This is what I'm hearing every time I call home and is also part of the reason for the British exodus.

And for Pete's sake don't come on here and call me a racist (I could easily prove otherwise) for sharing my opinions on why British citizens are leaving the country in droves.

My husband and I are two of these statistic's - but you didn't cite Bulgaria and there is alot of us here too. We did not take jobs away from Bulgarians - rather we formed a company and have made jobs for them - but I do see your point and agree with you to an extent. There are many jobs in the UK that are so lowly paid that the typical English man can't afford to do them, plus a great many that just won't work for any reason. This is a topic that will incite many opinions, has huge implications in many area's and is due to a succession of weak governments. Many English have left simply because they can't afford life in the UK anymore.

I think the reason so many people immigrate OUT of the UK is because we are taxed so highly. If we didn't have so many immigrants here, we wouldnt have such a tax burden and we could afford to live in our own birth country country comfortably.

As far as us Uk citizens 'stealing' jobs from other countries, I think you'll find it is alot harder for us to gain entry into another country than it is for immigrants to access Britain. Any non-citizen wishing to move from Britain to Canada for example, must prove they have a skill that is in demand. Why does Britian allow thousands of immigrants with no skills in here - don't gimme the story about them taking the low paid jobs, I'm sure some do, but I would bet my last pound that statistically there are more claiming benefits than working.

Yes Britain would take these people back. most of the people emigrating from the UK are highly skilled workers. I'm not sure I understand your "steal" jobs as someone must have had the job for it to be stolen and you can't just sack someone like you can in the USA.

Most British people don't have a problem with immigrants it's the unskilled illegal immigrants that are causing the problem. These illegal immigrants don't want to integrate into the local communities and also get advantages over the local population, first council houses, government loans, etc. Why should someone who has not paid into a system get more out of it than I can?

Very few people would complain about people stealing, I would say more people want them to find work legally and pay taxes back to the community. The biggest complaints are that they refuse to learn the language, they don't work, crime rate rises in areas of high illegal immigrants.

The largest number of illegal immigrants in the UK is from Australia, but the pubs would all close if they left. There is still far more entering the UK than leaving with Britain one of the top 5 countries on taking on immagrants.

Bring on immigration as the country need no ideas and blood but please do it legally.

I Live abroad, and your statement about stealing jobs is incorrect! Most people who live abroad, not all ,are retired or semi retired , so we are not working! and to say we are living in our own community's,why not? the immigrants that have moved to the UK , seem to all live together( southall, Birmingham, luton, Bristol , etc .To add. I can assure you in the country i live in most Brits don't work! there is barely enough work for the locals!!! but its not on your list!

You have made a good point. As far as I am concerned, as long as immigrants are in this country to work, then I have no problem with them.
Its the ones who come here to claim benefits that I do not agree with but the immigrants cant be blamed. It is the government that allows them to do it.
I would gladly swap lazy british benefit-claimants for immigrant workers.

Your arguments are flawed.

Many of the Brits who are working abroad are providing training of skills to the indigenous population who cannot receive that training and mentoring within their own country. This particularly applies to the Middle East, China and previously in the Indian sub continent. They usually return home on completion of that task.

The majority of the others live abroad because they have retired or have the economic means to do so and do not present a burden on the tax payers of the indigenous population.

If the notion that immigration is supposed to be a benefit to the economy of the country then why not send the immigrants back home to benefit the economy of their own countries.

RESPONSE:

Your thread suggests that you support immigration and all the problems that it has brought and will bring in the future. (in a recession for instance)

It is true that two wrongs do not make a right, however I would suggest that the level of British emigration is justified.

Many of us feel that our opinions and rights take second place to those who have brought themselves to our shores.

there are more than 1.3 million pom in oz, but you can have them back. They carry on here like its their country anyway, also have you noticed how many immigrant's are in your cricket team? Peiterson's from South Africa just to name one.

I love Great Britain, even in its current state. Where else on earth can you open a conversation by referring to the weather being so bad and get a laugh out of it? If it was sunny all the time we would have nowt to talk about! The trains don't run on time, but again this is a great source of conversation in the barber's/at the bank/down the pub.

And of course the history of the British Isles is unmatched by ANY country in the WORLD. Which country has united so many other countries through a common langauge? Which country is the oldest industrialized nation in the world?...Britain. And why is this country so great...well..as Al Murry say's..................it's in the name...

I totally agree with you, the idea of stealing jobs is ridiculous. I'm glad that having lived abroad myself for many years I am able to see things from a very different perspective. Is this a free world we live in? Or is it just a free world for British people to move around in as they please?

I think the older generation who seem to complain the most dont want the immigrants to get the free handouts ie houses benefits etc
There was an article in the paper telling people how to come to the uk and get the most out of the system that they could
I do however have no problems with any one working for their living :)
