Actually there are much bigger drains on the economy than immigration, like the war in Iraq, major disasters, infectious diseases, an under-trained/under-educated workforce (and I mean the actual citizens). America has always had a huge immigrant population, because people moving to this country to partake of 'the American dream' is one of the cornerstones of the American spirit.

If we should be worried about losing our country to anything we should be worried about losing the Liberty and Freedom we hold so dear to fear and fascism. I've watched with disgust over the past few years as fears of terrorism and foreign people in general have caused Americans to embrace ideas like those of the Soviets we all learned about in school. Cameras on street corners, people imprisoned without being charged, the military taking over policing responsibilities and monitoring innocent citizens' phone calls... I could go on all day. Do we not remember spending $4 trillion to defeat the USSR? Will that have meant anything if we now become them?

Yes, America is on its way to becoming a third world nation, but it has very little to do with the rampant immigration that we have always had. Rather it has much to do with the fact that we spend half of our budget on the military and little of the rest building any meaningful infrastructure, like North Korea does. This has greatly advanced the separation between the ultra-rich and everyone else who are sliding down into poverty, an economic structure not unlike Saudi Arabia has.

To get things back on track we need to stop panicking, stop complaining, and remember that this is America; a country that at one time believed it could do anything. We can handle waves of immigration and international terrorists without breaking a sweat or throwing away our liberty. That idea, that attitude, *is* America. If we're just going to freak out and give up, then we've already lost the only thing worth defending.

Just do a major sweep of the US for the immigrants and if any are found, throw them back into mexico and build a big huge wall where the border control stands.

Paul R: This is our country, Mexican Americans, African Americans, Native Americans , and every other kind of American. Immigration to our country by non "Americans" and that means non United States citizens is fantastic. Uncontrolled illegal immigration is not good for anyone except the illegal immigrant.

The people of Spanish decent hold all the power and the real native Indians are poor and still fighting for their land? Cut them off! If their kids our in our schools, they should be paying taxes FIRST. If they are going to get welfare, they should have to have paid taxes FIRST. If they are going to get medical assistance, the should have paid taxes FIRST. Just like the rest of us.

not only usa going thru this a lot of other countries too and islands
like we have people from bigger countries than us commingilligal to find a better living doing job they would have never done in there own country but because the situation is really bad they are forced too immigrate this is not a new thing in this world it have been happening thru decades
these are people that need our help and it's up to us that have enough to share to help them and thank god we are not in there shoes,having to live hour to hour trying to figur out from where the money for tomorows bread is comming from

send all South Americans that are in the USA Illegaly back to their paradise South American homeland
