The right to Citizenship.?
Find answers to your legal question.

The right to Citizenship.?

In the light of recent events, is it time for the government to remove the 'right to citizenship' from those who abuse this privilage?
Additional Details
This question mainly refers to the UK, but it equally applies to other countries.

Yes. If you want to be a citizen you should respect the country that you are applying for citizenship in. If you move to a country it is very arrogant of that person(s) to think that, that country should bend over backwards to accomodate their wants and needs such as religious orders. Britain is a christian country yet it has done a lot to accommodate other religious factions, yet when christians go to some muslim countries they can not practice christianity or drink alcohol because its against the muslim beliefs. I respect this but believe that they should do the same in other countries. It goes with the adage 'when in Rome do as the Romans do'. Its about time that people are stopped being seen as racist just because they want their country to think of their wants and needs before the immigrants. If you don't want to be disliked, join in with the country and speak the local language when outside of your home. Terrorists who have claimed British citizens should have that revoked and returned to their country but those that were born to that country should serve a life sentence. Or to upset a lot of people receive the death penalty if they caused the death of others. Unfortunately that is no longer an option in the UK thanks to the Europe Union interferring again.

Does this mean those born here with families that have been here for 200 + years? In other words, besides those coming into the country today, are you also talking about the people and their families that have been here for many generations?

tcreede
If they apply for citizenship, start paying taxes, and pledge allegance to the US, they should be able to be a citizen.

I agree

It makes me sick to hear these Muslim terrorists called "British Citizens" when they hate Britain and wish us harm.

Most of them are either immigrants or were born here to immigrant parents. Few of them consider themselves British (except for when it comes to claiming beneifts and avoiding the deat penalthy for crimes committed overseas).

I would like to see Muslim terrorists deported to the country either of their birth or of their parent's birth. The 7/7 bombers were born here but were 100% Pakistani and hated this country and its people so what gives this scum the right to be called a "British" Citizen.

If they were deported to their country of origin they'd end up living in poverty and facig much harder sentences than courts over here dish out. Good thing too.

There's corruption everywhere. It's impossible to be able to remove any rights to a few bad people without harming the rest of the people. The problem here in the states is the lack of "follow-up". If they spent equal time doing background checks as they do after giving away residency, they'd get rid of a lot of bad apples. Here, the ones that abuse the "political asylum" laws are South Americans (Mexicans aren't eligible), and they get citizenship and benefits almost automatically. Their waiting times, background checks, etc. take considerably less than any other types of immigrants', including Asians; and they receive little or no follow-ups by the government. Fair, maybe not... but it's true that if they removed those privileges, a lot of people would be hurt or even die un-necessarily.

American citizenship should only be given to the children of Americans. We should not automatically grant citizenship to anyone who enters the country and then gives birth. However, we should fix the process to assist people who want to become Americans legally. America should continue to open its self up to those looking for a better life as long as they follow the laws of the land and do things legally.

YES.

In my opinion, the first citizenship I would REVOKE would be GEORGE W. BUSH!

OR AT LEAST IMPEACH HIM!

it should not be a right in the first place, it is a privilege and people should realise that.
people who come here and then expect to carry on living as they would in their own country and demand that we change our way of life, culture, laws and heritage, should not be here in the first place let alone be given citizenship.
WHEN IN ROME, DO AS THE ROMANS DO.
and in answer to your question, yes they should be stripped of it and then sent back to their country of origin, whether they are wanted there or not.

Experian Agent.
Yes if they abuse the privilege.

Also i don't consider you to be a racist these sort of things need to be discussed :-) just thought id add my 2 pence worth

The only people with the right to citizenship are the people born in that country for anyone else it is a privilege they aspire to.

Since when is there a 'right' to citizenship for outsiders?

Every group, be it a school or a fraternity or a garden club or a street gang, selects its members for a felicitious mix and commitment to common goals.

Where on earth does that become a problem when a country does it?

?
If this is removed from certain people because of abuse of privilege then where do we send them or do with them? You can't just throw them in camps (Nazism) or prisons (dictatorships).

Send them to the country that they affilliate with perhaps. What if that country does not want them.

Interesting questions and I bet you've sparked a great discussion in your town.

Lanny
of course not. So all those americans that kill, rape and steal are going to be sent where? to space? The people that don't follow the rules should be punished like everyone else. don't be a racist.

mad keith
thy should have removed the right long a go no one has the right to be a British citizen unless your born here or your prepared to speak and understand English and you except our way of life and you leave your flaming religion in your country and i could go on and on don't like the answer tuff

Crazybird
Right to apply for citizenship maybe but there's also the right for that country to say no. There's more involved to citizenship than a piece of paper or what benefits you can now take or just because you want it. It's being abused and misused all over.

SANAT
yes, i think so. bhanu

seek_fulfill
Absolutely, categorically agree, although not a U.S. citizen or living in the U.S. myself. But I know about a lot of abuses, like falso marriages and false assylum seekers, etc.

katevans_98
I think so in many countries! I mean if you don't want to be here but are running from something but what? If you break th law or whatever then go back. We don't want you and if it was a good reason as unfair treatment then fine. They should be able to saty but if they break the law they must have done so there

DEATH
ABUSES Such as Calling Registered Democrats at Eleven at NIGHT on Election Eve and LIEING by posing as a Democratic Candidate, telling the voters lies...when all the time the prerecorded messages were PAID FOR BY THE RNC!!!

ALL THESE REPUKES SHOULD HAVE THEIR RIGHT TO CITIZENSHIP REVOKED!

Kalimán
Is it a right or a privilege?
You have a double standard!
I think is either a right or a privilege. It is a Social Status. That's it.

Anti-illegals are out to get me
No one has the right to citizenship except for Mexicans because this is Mexico's land.
