Yeah, I know just what you mean. Ozzy Osbourne did the same thing to the Cenotaph in front of the Alamo here in San Antonio, Texas, a few years back.
So maybe the same could be said for the 3 guys who doused your monument?
Why all the thumbs down? It was the same situation. He was a foreigner, he came here to make money, and he took a whiz on a memorial to our war dead. I smell a double standard. |

I'm with you.....whichever country these people came from the chances are at some point we helped them...can you imagine the outcry if the roles were reversed?
Urinating in public is highly disgusting but to deface a memorial is unforgivable.

I agree, disgusting! But you shouldn't dwell on their nationality, anyone can do something like that and if it were anyone else of any other nationality the crime would still remain as disgusting. |

It is no worse than what I witnessed on Christmas Eve in our Cathedral.When 2 drunken yobs streaked through up to the altar at the time the Bishop was giving communion.Unphased by it all he carried on without emmosion.You must do the same even though you feel angry. |

agreed, but are some of our yoofs any more respectful, graves desecrated, slogans daubed over them, rocks and missiles lobbed at funeral processions, fire engines pelted with stones or worse, this is not an country to be proud of to allow this sort of thing to happen. Quite frankly it doesn't surprise me these men did this, they have no respect for anyone, just come here and take the money and go back to their homelands none the wiser that they have done anything wrong. |

Send 'em all back home to pi$$ up their own monuments. Thieving ba$tards!!!!! Having said that. A gang of local youths desicrated the war memorial in our tiny village last November. Most of the lads involved had relatives, who's names are etched in the stone. Respect is virtually non-existent these days, sadly. |

Have you seen how some British folk behave on a stag night in Krakow or Prague. I'm British living in Slovakia and have seen it a few times on holiday. No better. I do think it was a case of three people behaving very badly, but not all Eastern Europeans are like that.
Edit carly s - I never said it was acceptable, it is totally disgraceful, but I'm always feeling the vibes of anti Eastern European sentiment everytime I go back to the UK. The fact these people were Eastern European has just given people people an excuse to be critical, hence why this was posted in immigration. I have in fact seen British youths climbing on war memorials when I was a child. |
