I agree! Why are so many people so hostile about immigrants, when they should be more concerned about the number of legal citizens that screw our system. I'm sure that far exceeds any number of current illegal people. We all know people, friends, family that do nothing but live off the tax payer. That's start with them, rather be so concerned about others that want to come here and make a good life!

And here is a reason why they shouldn't be allowed to stay, they take jobs away from the American people and mooch off the system, there are people starving, people that are dying because the system of society today, they have no money to pay the rising cost in health care and prescriptions and they have no money to buy food and when illegals go to the hospital they are treated better then the Americans they get free Healthcare and food stamps and mooch off our Great Country.

The Declaration of Independence applies to LEGAL CITIZENS of this great nation. It does not apply to non-citizens. You actually do not have the same rights afforded to any citizen of any country you are visiting anywhere in the world. And the Statue of Liberty is not Law... immigrants who were coming to the nation LEGALLY were able to read this and were inspired by the message it displays. They felt compelled to make a difference and contribute to this great nation.

I am here because MY ancestors came here LEGALLY. They did not disrespect the laws of this nation. They wanted to become citizens and they contributed to this country. Unlike the illegal invaders of our country today who come here to leach off the system, take jobs away from citizens, take opportunity away from law abiding citizens, commit crime and feel entitled to the things that the citizens of this country work so hard for.

Your heart is in the right place and for the immigrants who love America and want to come here legally I say we should help them, but I live in southern Az and believe me most of the mexicans here have no problem saying that they don't like America, they wave the mexican flag, refuse to speak english and don't respect the fact that OUR brave men and women are fighting and dying to keep this country THE GREATEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD.Both of my parents came here from italy but I swear that I am not italian I am an American and proud of it and if anyone wishing to come here does not feel the same, they really don't belong here in the first place.

Most immigrants then were not "given a chance"...They earned, thru following the legal process of the day and a desire to assimilate, the potential for success that America offered.
