The 'specified work' in regional areas isn't necessarily in the middle of bloody nowhere and it includes a hell of a lot more than simply agricultural work.

The regional areas include many beautiful coastal areas and cities and include all of Queensland except Brisbane and the Gold Coast; all of NSW except Sydney, Newcastle the Central Coast and Wollongong and all of the Northern Territory, South Australia, Victoria and Western Australia except for Melbourne and Perth. That leaves some fantastic places.

The 'specified work' includes:

â€¢ plant and animal cultivation
o cultivating or propagating plants, fungi or their products or parts
o general maintenance crop work
o harvesting and/or packing fruit and vegetable crops
o immediate processing of animal products including shearing, butchery in an abattoir, packing and tanning
Note: Secondary processing of animal products, such as small goods processing and retail butchery is not eligible
o immediate processing of plant products
o maintaining animals for the purpose of selling them or their bodily produce, including natural increase
o manufacturing dairy produce from raw material
o pruning and trimming vines and trees.
â€¢ fishing and pearling
o conducting operations relating directly to taking or catching fish and other aquatic species
o conducting operations relating directly to taking or culturing pearls or pearl shell.
â€¢ tree farming and felling
o felling trees in a plantation or forest
o planting or tending trees in a plantation or forest that are intended to be felled
o transporting trees or parts of trees that were felled in a plantation or forest to the place where they are first to be milled or processed or from which they are to be transported to the place where they are to be milled or processed.
â€¢ mining
o coal mining
o construction material engineering
o exploration
o metal ore mining
o mining support services
o oil and gas extraction
o other non-metallic mineral mining and quarrying.
â€¢ construction
o building completion services
o building installation services
o building structure services
o heavy and civil engineering construction
o land development and site preparation services
o non-residential building construction
o residential building construction
o other construction services.

That's hardly only agricultural jobs, is it? If you want to stay here for another 12 months, stop whingeing and get out and experience some of the real Australia.

if you don't want to follow the rules don't apply or a visa simple as that

and it isn't just rural work in the middle of bloody no where, try doing some research

i had a work visa for australia ten years ago - the 'specified work' wasnt in force back then in order to obtain a second year visa - so i didnt complete any criteria under the 'specified work' - does this mean that i cant obtain another work visa even though the law wasnt in force when i had my first visa???
