take it from a salvadorean, who was born here but has lived in el salvador, and whom all his family crossed the border in search of a better life, and guess what we have it now, so to all of those who talk and never have been there, i can only say you can talk all day and read books, statistics, watch a little TV news, but you DONT KNOW, what that kind of life is. My parents are now legal and have are law abiding citizen, my brother is a marine, life is better, and i can only thank my parents for coming here illegally...
and i know this makes people angry, but they dont know what it is like to live that scenario you described, so their opinions are biased and not too mention the ones that post racist coments.

GET SOMETHING STRAIGHT ALL OF YOU WHO HAVE NOT LIVED THAT SCENARIO, MY PARENTS CAME TO WORK,
THEY CLEANED TOILETS, WORKED THE LA SWEATSHOPS FACTORIES, CLEANED HOUSES, ETC, THEY DIDNT COME TO USE ANYTHING FREE, NOTHING IS FREE, THEY CAME FOR ME AND MY BROTHER TO HAVE A BETTER LIFE, THE ONE THE GOVERNMENT OVERTHERE DIDNT GIVE THEM...

There is lack of food, jobs and education in the rich countries too. But it still doesn't mean one should run accross a freeway with the whole family and be an illegal immigrant. If that's what you are trying to imply. I waited 2 years to get my wife's visa, we did everything legally, she now works and pays her taxes instead of abusing the system.

yea, I might make a run for it, but what wuold I do when I get there?rely on other countrymen for help,find a BS job, that pays Illegaly, without taxing me,but doesnt treat me much better than employers in my native country?get on that country`s public assistance program?Or risk dying in the desert trying to get there?Hmm...maybe I would like to try to make my own nation a more livable place,first!!

Which country might this be? Over 10% of Mexico's population is hear in the US illegally. A people that industrious should be able to have an impact on their own country. This argument always fails on the questions "where do you draw the line" and "what price are you willing to pay". This notion that the US should accept anyone that needs a better life is unreasonable and not possible. The US needs an immigration policy that benefits the US.

If this country spent all the money it does on illegals to fight poverty for US citizens wouldn't it be great!

Thinking going to a richer country will solve all your problems? Well the grass is always greener on the other side, isnt it? If you are willing to take up extremes to get to a richer country, I suggest you just put the same ammount of effort on improving your life in your own country and remember you are not liked in the foreign countries.

I like being born in this country and watching people come in whether legal or not, and getting better treatment because they are foreigners. Yea give them free school, money to start their own business, lower rent on their stores. Picture yourself in one of our many slums. You can't go out because of gangs. You were up all night to make sure the rats didn't eat you baby. Your teen is on drugs. Your husband is looking in the garbages to see if their is anything worth bringing home. Your heat and electric are off. And the toddle needs to see a Doctor. You can't get benefits you don't qualify-yet others do just because their foreigners (it has a purpose) you needed more points for your form to qualify. You were laid off-the Auto factory you worked closed down. But many in your slummy neighbor had other stories. The new Widow, the Vet, the Disable, Those caring for Sick kids, the Druggie, the Old man-yep many have stories here. Funny there are slums in every city. Tell them your sad story and how some one who comes in Illegal should come first. That Vet who served his country-now with no legs wants to know all about them-after all they need help.

I have a story too. A young girl who gave up many things. No soda or a trip to a candy store. No new clothes. No toys. She worked very hard. At work and at home. She did crafts and sewed for extra money because her job paid so little. She worked on educating herself. She saved enough to visit the States and tried hard and made friends. She went through all the procedures and worked along the way. Than she was able to come and be a Citizen of this country. She still did work hard, giving up so much. And finally went to school so she could get a better job. And much of her check is taken away for taxes. If they were going to give it away it is to bad no one told her. She would have waited. Now she is just surviving paying for basics. How much more will she have to work to pay for 12,000,000 who just want in.

Every creature is living for his/ her ownself on this planet.
Even a dog or a pig is also wander and fill their belly for their own sake.

Living for others sake has a different taste, satisfaction and inner fullfillment.

I have taken a lot from God and from this society a lot in last decades and now it is my duty to return it to this society, and return it to the less fortunate sons and daughter of God by serving them.

My family has their own fate and they will make their own but I am given a chance to sarve these brothers and sisters of mine, living in a third world country with dreams in eyes.

If I think to leave the battle and migrate to the socalled richest country then it will be like losing the war unfought.

and don't you think these socalled richest country is poor by heart. No emotions , no feelings and no self esteem. only money,lust and f&f.

I would like to live there , bear the inconvinience ( the gift of God )
and serve those peoples like a soldier of God.

And this will be the only difference between me and others.

You paint a rather benign and heroic picture of Illegals. It is not always the case.
What I would personally do is sneak under the fence too. But then I would go about learning the language, getting my kids a good education, and trying to assimilate. Learning the ways of the culture that works, not trying to duplicate the one I came from that doesn't up here.
I would also be thankful as all hell, and not be a rude and demanding guest
