US Citizenship? Is this possible?
|
This chick came to the United States when she was young with her parents. None of them are US citizens. She graduated high school and is currently in college. Is it possible for her to have undergone some process to make her a citizen? I really don't know ANYTHING about this since I was born here so if somebody could gimme a layout and an opinion on whether or not she can be deported I'd appreciate it.

Depends on if her family entered legally or illegally. If her family entered with the correct paperwork, she might have a chance to adjust her status. If her family entered the country illegally, she cannot change her status while she is living here. Illegal entry means she can deported anytime she is caught.
Don't count on the DREAM act passing anytime soon. American citizens are fighting against this bill being passed. |

Scott doesn't know what he's talking about. On the other hand - I know what I'm talking about..
There is a law that might pass, it called the DREAM Act, it will pass this year, or the next year - your friend could qualify and I'll give you all the information that you need..
This is the basic information:

They got a forum that she can use to get more details:

If she came legally, not illegally though the desert - she got an I-94 in her passport (and if she lost it she can asks for a replacement, the replacement costs $320). With an I-94 , people that entered legally can get a Green Card if they get married. If she got in the US illegally getting married is not an option for her because she won't get a green card doing it. Waiting for something to pass is her hope, now is the DREAM Act and it looks very good, it will pass, maybe not this year - but it will finally. |

A good immigration lawyer can definitely guide her to a legal residence status, but until then, yes she can be deported! |
