US green card holders have to wait 5 years before their family can join them in America?Is there any hope?

Someone with a work VISA can bring wife and kids along, same story for students, researchers and investors.
But if you have a green card you have to wait five years.

That's the reality of a broken and inefficient immigration system that America does not deserve.

Previous comments made me laugh. They denote an absolute ignorance of the topic and a deep lack of knowledge of human rights.
I'm not even sure why they bother to answer if they don't know anything about it.

Being a green card holder means you'll soon be a citizen, means you are a taxpayer, means you chose the right way to immigrate and last but not least you're the one paying for unemployment checks.

A fair immigration system must reward the ones who obey the law.

A 5-year wait is a shame for America, the U.S. should be sanctioned for such a tremendous inefficiency and treatment to immigrants.

BASIC human right? YOu were not born here, you came here, through lottery or marriage, I don't think that comming to the US is ANYONE's RIGHT.

Follow the rules, and wait in line. I think its longer than 5 yrs though.

What basic human right? YOU made the choice to leave your home country and leave your family behind. If you wanted to be with your family, you should have stayed in your own country or found a country that would have allowed your family to come with you on a dependent visa.

We all make choices in life, and obviously studying or making money in the US was more important to you than living with your family. Lots of people make choices for financial reasons - and you can't then complain that it's a basic human right.

You have every right to travel back to your country to visit your family up to 180 days per year if you have a green card. You have the right to move back to your country. And you have the right to find another country that will allow you to bring your family with you. You are not being denied any basic human rights.

I made the same decision as you - I left my family behind to take a job on another continent. But I go home at least twice a year and my family also comes to visit me.

well, look around you, if you havent noticed yet or seen the news, U.S is going thro economical crisis and huge job deficit... so bringing more ppl into the country would not help at all, my guess they might even close the borders completely in the future.
