United States Of America or The United Kingdom?

Cake or Death?

People tend to like their own country. Stupid people make disparaging remarks about other people's.

The UK did not discover America. A Genoese man funded by Spaniards discovered the Americas. The British were Johnny-come-latelys in the colonisation of America. The Virginia settlement didn't get underway until the first decade of the 17th century. And the British hardly invented anything. The important things were all invented by the Chinese and the Arabs while the English were still living in huts.

It's pretty hard to argue America has no culture if you've read Twain, Hawthorne, Steinbeck, Williams, Stevens, Fitzgerald, De Lillo, Pynchon, Moore, Pound, Ginsberg, Kerouac, Lowell, etc. Much of the world's greatest modern literature, and almost all of the world's great contemporary music, comes from the US.

Though, on the other side of the ledger, I'm puzzled by the myth of British people having bad teeth. Was this ever true? Perhaps it was true in the post-war austerity years, but I really see no difference between British and American dentistry now.

Really? In what way does the United States copy the UK? Our two countries share a common history, but we are alike in very few ways. However, travel around the world and you will find that American culture is copied in many ways. This does not make the United States better or worse. Just different. I am a citizen of the United States, but I have traveled extensively in the world. I have yet to find another place I desire to call home.

Edit: "THE UK DISCOVERED AMERICA" Wrong! An Italian named Christopher Columbus discovered the Americas funded by Queen Isabella of Spain. If you desire to go farther back than that. The indigenous population of the United Stated migrated from across the Bearing Straits during the last Ice Age. Hell even the Vikings of Scandinavian original were in the Americas before the British. You really need to study history.

As a English man in American I have to say BOTH. If you've never lived in the UK how can you judge?

USA of course. UK are expensive, the rates are high and the weather is much more colder.USA has lots of range of people and its a much more bigger country.

I've lived in both places, and love them both. But the US is home for better or worse.

UK is so over weight they had to invent a unit of measurement because 'pounds' weren't heavy enough so you use 'stone' to measure your fat bu**s. LOL

The UK was a good nation until the past 30 years or so. At that time, your politicians started to take away your rights, inch by inch. Now it is illegal to carry a pocket knife "without a good reason". Of course we seem similar, the US wasdescendedd from Brits angry with their country. We just took the ideals of the UK and improved them vastly. Like Rome did with Greece.

Does it really matter which is the better nation? In my book the both all have the pro's & con's to it....
I am from the UK!! Also spending sometime in the USA!!!

Surely there's pros and cons both ways.

One thing I like about the UK is you don't have to travel so far to see a rock gig, especially if you live out in the wilds.
