taking a cruise to the bahamas,will a passport card get me into the u.s.a. from the bahamas if i need to fly home in an emergency.

A passport card is a passport that will allow land and sea border crossings between the US and Canada, Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean, Bermuda and the Bahamas.
It's not to be used for air crossings. However, in the case of an emergency return from a cruise, they'd probably let you enter the country using that. But if that concerns you, pay a little extra and get a full passport. |

Passport cards are cheaper versions of the original passport book. It's smaller and cheaper, but only good for entering America at land and sea entries. Not for air travel entries. If there is an emergency on a boat, they should expect a person on a cruise to only have a passport card. But if you don't have a ticket for the boat, you might look suspicious. Good luck. |

It can be used for a cruise to the Bahamas. However, it cannot be used to fly back home. |
