Immigrants are allowed. The US has the largest immigration ever year world wide. However coming into the country illegally, is well illegal.

This country is going through an overpopulation crisis, as well as, an illegal immigration crisis. It is depleting our resources and driving up our debt. Immigration to the US should be capped until we can provide for everyone that is here legally first. Most nations in the world already do this.

There is no question immigrants shoul be allowed in the US. We are a nation of immigrants. I, myself, am an immigrant. A legal immigrant. Your question shoud be "Should illegal immigrants be allowed in the US?" And the answer is a resounding NO! Because we are a nation of laws and they are breaking the law. Without laws there is chaos. Take a look around you. This nation is falling apart. I've been watching it deteriorate. It started when we turned our backs on our immigration laws. Write that in your essay.

our country has no more room for more people. they only come here to get jobs and Citizens of the U.S can't even find a job so why should they get more benefits than us.? Half of them can't even speak english, which should be a requirement in order to live here. And they come here to get all the free welfare/healthcare benefits. I think the argument that we are a nation of immigrants is a tired one and not particularly helpful. If indeed we were to stand by that theory then we should simply have open borders where people wander in an out, using the resources that tax payers have generated , not to mention those who mean us harm, so thats not really very sensible, It would be chaos.All countries have immigration restrictions and nearly all countries are a result of immigration at some point in their history , America is simply a younger country. Country and territory ownership eventually is important because those generations of immigrants have made that country what it is by their hard work and contribution and its not fair to let everyone in indiscriminately to take advantage with minimal input.

That said, lawful immigrants, that learn the majority language , have skills that benefit the country, don't use public funding immediately and are not hostile to the culture or attempt to change the existing culture will indeed boost an economy by spending their money, buying property, paying taxes and in many cases becoming employers themselves and not incur resentment from the existing residents.

There would be no reasonable reason not to welcome those immigrants, not even resentment that they take your jobs because anyone working and contributing will boost the economy and make more jobs. If a foreigner gets a job over you, then you have a take a long look at how employable you are.

If you are zenophobic or a racist, then just own up to that and stop coming up with lame reasons as to why you don't want decent hard working immigrants. If they are more successful than you, than you have to take responsibility for that.

Illegal immigrants however are a drain on the economy , create friction in society and above all else are breaking the law. They keep the minimum wage very low and static , drive without insurance , use public resources with no intent to pay and often send what money they do earn back to their own countries. As for them doing the jobs Americans won't do, that is total rubbish, what they won't do is do it for what they pay illegals.

I think that anyone wanting to be a U.S citizen should have the right to do so, but it should be done legally. I, myself, am not too fond of our country, but if others are, more power to them. It is not really this country that I am tired of, but rather our members of Congress, Senate and members of power in the White House that I am not proud of. If something were to be done about corrput government officials and Health Care were to become Universal, that I woud not have a problem with living in the U.S.

As of now, there are more people actuall leaving this country because of the lack of jobs and resources. I am thinking about moving as well. This country has gone to hell and I do not think that it will ever be a decent place to live ever again. Immigrants coming to America? SURE, COME ON IN!; but once you are here, you WILL regret doing so in the first place.

don't walk around and say any immigrant can get benefits. I am not eligible for {most} benefits. i work and have to pay taxes like anyone else. And I am a legal immigrant.

There's a problem with a government that makes it possible for illegals to have access to certain benefits. who wouldn't go and get government help if they're poor? why is it so easy to screw over the system?

Everyone is immigration except native Indian. Why not let the legal people immigrate to US and government have tax income? However, I think less people would like to migrate to US in the future because globalization and economic downturn.
