There are rules in place for people moving to the UK that want to claim on the British welfare system.
As your country is part of the EEA then assuming you meet the other requirements (restrictions) yes your child qualifies.
Use the links to see if you qualify for child benefit |

Why do you think every no-hoper wants to live in England?
You could probably leave the kids in Portugal and STILL get hand-outs. |

Please!!! Think about work and society not benefits. Where do benefits come from? Hard work. OUR hard work. Don't mind people going to all places as long as they pull their weight. Forget about benefits think instead about what to do. |

Don't ask, I'm confused

Stay at home, we don't want you. |

Yes you would be entitled to child benefit. You need to understand though, that the cost of living here in the UK is about three times higher than that in Portugal. You will find it difficult to get a job which pays enough to keep you and your family. The child benefit will not make enough difference. |

If you are a member of a EU state, you can come to this country, just as we can move freely to Portugal.
You will of course pay UK tax rather than Portuguese taxes and ,will be entitled as a EU citizen to Child Benefit for your child.
Please check out the details. |

What you stupid, racist and xenophobic brits who are being nothing but offensive don't understand is that a portuguese has every right to the social benefits of ANY COUNTRY in the EU, since Portugal is a member of the EU with the exact same rights as the UK or any other member.
An english has every right to the benefits of Portugal if he lives and pays taxes here AND BY THE WAY THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF BRITS IN PORTUGAL, especially the Algarve, full of fat, ugly, stupid, arrogant and most of them pedophile brits.
If you don't want the portuguese to live in England, WHAT THE F**** ARE YOU DOING IN PORTUGAL???
Yo answer the question directly, yes, you do have the right to social benefits in England if you work and live there and pay their taxes.
If you english dislike so much being a part of the EU why don't you just F**** leave?... |
