First it is considered rude to type in all caps..........Second...........Illegal immigrants DO NOT just take the lower waged jobs. They take jobs in the construction field, plumbing field, roofing field, food service field etc. They work for less money in these fields than an American will, so they are getting hired over Americans. Americans are NOT too lazy to work the lower waged jobs, but they are too smart to work for the sub-standard wages that the Illegal Immigrants will work for because they can't stand up for themselves and demand better wages. I have had family members who did work the orchards, fields and rice fields, but they lost their jobs because the owners could hire Illegal Immigrants for less money.
You can claim they aren't Illegal that they are human, but they are still Illegally entering OUR country and taking work and other resources away from Americans. Which makes them Illegal Immigrant humans! This has nothing to do with Iraq, so that argument is ridiculous.
Quinn..........You're right, an American won't work for "Crap Wages", but if the Illegal Immigrants weren't here these companies would be forced to pay decent wages. I am so sick of people claiming Americans won't work any job that isn't in an air conditioned office, pushing around a pencil. We aren't lazy and we aren't afraid of hard work, but we do expect to be paid a decent wage for any job we take. Thanks to Illegal Immigrants these companies won't hire Americans because they can pay slave wages to the Illegal Immigrants.
maat...........There is no job that is "beneath" an American! My father has worked for 35 years as a Mail Carrier, fighting the weather, crazy people, traffic, horrible working conditions and dogs. He works 6 days a week, 10-12 hours a day just to make ends meet. Don't give me the crap that Americans don't or won't work long hours in the sun! My father has worked in the snow in Illinois and the hot sun in California and the winter rains in California. You are right that we won't work for the "Crap Wages" though. The companies who hire the Illegal Immigrants would have to pay a decent wage if they couldn't hire the Illegal Immigrants instead. My family and friends have picked fruits and worked the rice fields and other fields and would do it again if the wages were decent.

you got it! almost.the beaners working for lower wages is the clue.they are illeagl.if they were legal they would then want more and bring the wages up to a respectable level.
they are not taking jobs because the jobs don't pay enough for a person living here with a family.they come here and leave family at home and send money back.they live 10 to house or car or whatever. |

How the hell do you think the USA got where it is, not because we are afraid of hard work, Mexico & Puerto Rico are a shambles, if you can't get it right there how can you be any good here except for cheap labor. |

I am glad someone finally said it. I know Americans won't want crap wages for crappy jobs. So just shut the hell up and get over it. |

I have used that argument numerous times myself lately and no one wants to admit that those jobs seem to be "beneath" most Americans now. They don't want to work the long, hard hours in the sun for crap wages.
I just wonder if they will finally realize the mistake they are making when most of the fruit rots on the tree or vine and then companies start loosing money and the government looses out on the taxes that would generate. |

Didn't Cesar Chavez walk to the border in California, arm and arm with Martin Luther King's successor Rev. Ralph Abernathy, and then Senator Walter Mondale, in 1969 PROTESTING Illegal Aliens? Didn't the UFW support closing the border because Illegal Aliens brought down workers wages in the United States? Wasn't Chavez "run" out of the UFW because he didn't want to be considered a "minority", and leave in 1981 after LULAC and others lobbied for official "minority" status resulting from laws signed in 1976-77? It is true also, that after 1981, Chavez's departure, that farm worker wages actually dropped. |

Short and sweet.
Most Americans would take those jobs if they needed work.
The illegals have caused the wage to drop and stay there THAT is why some people think that way. |

I grow and pick my own fruits and veggies. I take care of my own home and my children. I don't need illegals. |

As a matter of fact, High School students perform these jobs throughout the summer to get a little extra spending $$$. Also, people who may be between jobs could work while looking. Furthermore, I have done these "jobs nobody wants" to have money to improve my life to get a better job, and you know what, another person took my job when I left and went on to the next. Don't try and use my previous statement for illegal immigrants as I am a citizen of theses United States. People who retire may want something to do and also take these jobs. The list goes on and on... |

If the Mexicans didn't do these jobs, it would force them to offer more wages. Better for us. |

Don't knock it if you haven't tried it! Working in the fields is fun & rewarding. There isn't too much glamour involved, but the money is better because you don't have to buy expensive clothing to impress your co-workers! I would gladly work the fields again! |

Uhm, yeah, americans would take the jobs. I know loads of people who would take a seasonal job that got them outdoors in the spring and summer. The fact is that mexican workers work for way less then americans, don't pay ssi and fica taxes, and they are here illegally.
law is the law, this country in founded on the consecpt of the rule of law, not the rule of what gives us warm-fuzzies. |

Only 2% of Illegal aliens work the fields, the rest are taking construction jobs that Americans use to do, they use to make a good living, but those company's started to hire cheap labor, and now the housing prices are still high, and their putting the extra money in their pockets. And a lot of black people lost their jobs at Tyson foods, illegals are doing those jobs now. their are to examples of them lowering wages. |

I agree with you but I live in PA and our immigration rally had 100 people in it( the fewest in the country) so we aren't really affected by this whole immigration thing |

Maybe American companies should start paying everyone minimum wage like they're supposed to by law. And if they're not, they should be prosecuted. But since corporations actually run the government, this will never happen. |

they are not just taking vege picking jobs many of our factories , construction, service , city jobs , many compaines desire illegals because they dont have to pay workers comp, insurance , they can pay them very low wages and know they cannot complain some companies dont even send them to get drug test as they dont have papers everything under the table and as a result it is killing the American working class ! |

mostly we're upset that they're taking our $$$. if an illegal immagrant walks into a hospital in california, they have to be treated, using our hard earned tax dollars!!!
i don't have a single problem with mexicans here legally, but the illegal are the ones that bug me. |

The only real danger I see coming from this illegal immigrant deal is the setting of precedence in the American legal system. If we were to grant them citizenship or something comprisable to citizen ship then America is willing to break her own laws. What will the next law be that we can implement only some of the time.
Then again, deporting 11 million plus illegal immigrants would be difficult and very expensive. Unfortunately our government seems to be very wary about confronting this issue head on. |

People w/o legal documents can only work on the field because they don't have the opportunity to seek better jobs. Cheap labor helps US industries in the west..it's all clear to me that having a second-class individuals would not provide social and intellectual development! |

IT IS JUST TYPICAL FOR IGNORANT PEOPLE TO GIVE THIS KIND OF ANSWERS!! AS AN AMERICAN ITS SAD WATCHING AMERICANS THINK AS IF THEY ARE THE BEST IN THE WORLD THAY THEY HAVE THE RIGHT TO DO AND SAY ANYTHING THEY WANT...EXP. IRAQ..... ILLEGALS OR NOT ILEGALS THEY ARE HUMAN BEINGS.. |

Umm, have you ever been to the Dakotas, Iowa, or any of our farming states? Americans work in the fields all the time. Lower wages is part of the problem perceived with illegal immigrants, so that argument doesn't help you. Their presence undercuts a decent wage for legal residents, and makes family farms unable to compete with agribusiness built on illegal immigrant labor.
That is why the House Bill with the provision making being an illegal alien a felony was sponsored by the Senator from Wisconsin. They have negligible illegal immigration there, but the labor competition is a killer. |

to ily home-less they wont work they are homeless cuz the nuts they want free thay dont want to work . acording to a fox. news poll 85 % of homeless pop its nutz crazy wack |

2% of illegals work the farms
29% of illegals collect welfare. |

1. If those jobs paid fair living wage, there would be plenty of Americans who are currently on welfare or unemployment who would take them.
2. Americans USED to do such jobs in the past. This would be no different. Adopt a living wage and restrict welfare - you'll have plenty of workers in no time.
3. Do you think that once they become LEGAL, these people won't try to go after higher paying jobs? The only things they are doing it now for low wages is because they don't have many alternatives. Once they are allowed to work here LEGALLY, they will go for higher-paying jobs and once again you'll be in the proverbial situation of "who's gonna pick the lettuce"?!? |
